Anybody seen this documentary? I used to be a vegetarian in high school for about 4 years because I have just never been a big fan of meat, unless it's fish, but this movie... it makes me sick. Just got done watching it. I just honestly cannot understand why companies feel the need to treat animals the way they do; even though we eat them, they are still living, breathing, things with feelings. I get that it's cheaper and they make more money by doing the terrible things they do to them, but I just cannot get over it. It honestly makes me feel like I could throw up I'm so disgusted with what I learned from this movie. This movie has honestly made me consider going vegetarian again for moral reasons, or at least eatting purely organiac meats where animals are treated more humanely. I started crying when they showed (pardon the graphicness of this statement) a beef cow with a plastic capped hole in its side where farmers shove corn, a food cows do not naturally eat, into their stomach. I had no clue that the meat industry was this terrible; I mean, I knew a little about it, but this is not what I expected. If you haven't seen it, I recommend it for educational reasons, but be prepared to be extremely disturbed.
Re: Food Inc.
my bio - updated with pics!!
:-( I'm a vegetarian already. I think it's def the way to go, or to at least eat less meat. There are so many other sources of protein that don't involve unsafe and cruel practices towards an animal.
I've seen it and it was quite disturbing to see how animals were treated.
I also took away from the movie how homogonized foods are becoming. More than not eating meat it made me want to start eating more local. It made me want to know where my food came from, how it was made, and what was in it.
I was disturbed by sections of the movie that showed how corporate food has become and how the traditional farm is more and more becoming a fiction of the past.
