No photos. WWYD?

Our contract with our photographer states that editing will take 4 - 8 weeks, and today was the 8 week mark. Surprise, surprise, we still haven't seen any photos.

Moreover, we haven't heard a peep from our photographer since the wedding. And, as some of you may remember, I actually had a horrible time getting ahold of her before the wedding. I had emailed her, called and left messages, etc, and didn't hear a thing from her until the week of our wedding.

What would you guys do? I could email her and ask when to expect our pictures, but I'm fairly certain that she just wouldn't respond. Should I call? Give it another week? We've paid in full, and I just want my pics! I'm so frustrated.

  • I would call on Monday and if she doesn't answer leave a message. I'd probably give it another week or so and if you don't hear back call again. If she still doesn't answer I'd leave a message saying if you don't hear back in 24 hours you are going to be contacting your attorney.
    It may not be how you want to go about this situation but it seems like your photographer is flaky and sometimes straight up ignoring you. I always use this method to get a company's butt in gear, they DO NOT like to hear this, especially with this situation where you have contract where she clearly has not upheld her side of the deal and has been fully paid for all services. HTH.

    P.S. I'm not an insensitive b!tch if it comes off that way Smile, I do understand something unfortunate may have happened that has prevented her from getting her work done in the contracted time. BUT she has not called you before they were contracted to be to you and if you give her a week from the 1st phone call to get back to you that is plenty of time, I mean it would take 5 minutes.

  • T, I would start calling too.  At least when we had not gotten our pictures yet my photographer had emailed us and answered my calls.  I am sorry that you had problems before and still have problems.  

    Have you called yet?  If not, I would make the first call polite but if you don't hear back in a couple of days, I would not be as nice.  She is breaking your contract by not having the pictures ready and if she does not get back to you or have a good reason for them being late, I would definitely remind her of this and tell her you expect compensation.

  • Do you have an address for her?  I would pay her a friendly visit.  Friendly, of course, and not alone.

    It's difficult to avoid someone when they are in your face.

  • I would also start off by giving her a call on Monday. See if she'll give you an expected date for the photos to be finished. If it's within a reasonable time frame (I'd say a week at most), give her that little bit of extra time. If she doesn't have them done again, I'd tell her that per your contract, your photos are late and if you don't receive them ASAP, you'll expect to be reimbursed for the delay as you've already given her extra time.

    Oh, if she doesn't answer when you call Monday, I'd definitely pay a visit in person. She's more likely to give you straight answers if you're in person.

    I said this prior to our weddings, but I will say it again. Wedding vendors seem to be the worst communicators ever! Our video was 2.5 weeks late. Also, he told me he was shipping the videos on a Monday, and the postage says it wasn't paid for until Thursday. If you aren't going to follow through on something you tell me, just don't tell me!!

    Sorry you have to go through this. I'd be so bummed if I didn't have my pics. I hope she gets them to you ASAP.

  • Call and say you're going to contact the BBB if you don't get your pictures.  Usually works.
