The Black Hole...

...So tomorrow I am planning to tackle the task of our garage...duh duh duh...I did most all of my decor DIY so I have boxes piled floor the ceiling on both sides of the garage with decor from and stuff from me moving in.

We had friends break down our reception, pack everything, and bring it back to our house (where they sweetly spread all the rose petals all over the floor for a nice entrance, put bath stuff in our bathroom for sweet baths for 2, and also postered our bedroom with weird body building model pictures...it is a tradition that when you take back presents and stuff, you decorate the newleweds house) so I am kinda scared of how it is all packed and having to go through it all.

I plan to post alot of it on Trash to Treasure and hopefully make back some money...

Re: The Black Hole...

  • None of the above. ?We spent the 2 days post wedding cleaning my sister's house (our reception was there). ?We packed up everything we wanted to ship back here to San Diego, and gave everything else away - food to a food bank, and everything else to Goodwill. ?

?It was annoying at the time, but felt really great to be done with it! ?She still hasn't shipped the boxes - I can't wait to go through them and put things where we want them :)?

  • Oooooh, good luck on the garage!  DH and I took care of a lot of our wedding DIY stuff, pretty much all our decor from the wedding, and got rid of it to friends or just threw it away.  Some of it, however, is still chilling in our basement.  We'll get to it when we get to it.
  • I didn't have too much leftover decor the biggest thing was the 36 jars that were used for centerpieces but those already have pickles in them chilling in the basement! I sold my bubbles and most everything else is being thrown away because it's nothing of material value!
  • I don't have too much left over.  We 10 or 12 vases in the basement.  They are not doing any harm down there right now.  I'll figure out something to do with them eventually.  Everything else fit into one rubbermaid tub.  We put everything into that including all of our cards, extra programs, extra invitation supplies, and the curtain that divided our space (made of tulle, so it squished down pretty nicely). It will be fun to open up this bin in a few years and remember the wedding!

ETA: Wait, that's not totally true.  I have my chuppah frame in my sunroom hanging out until I get around to calling the florist who told me they want to buy it or rent it from me...

  • I'm keeping 1 or 2 items (a centerpiece, one of our votive holders, unity candle (personalized))

I'm selling some stuff (card box, extra vases, etc..)

and I'm trashing stuff I don't think I could sell (programs) or stuff that doesn't sell...

I'm sentimental, DH is not...it's probably good, I don't need a lot of stuff cluttering up our tiny apartment when in all honesty, I'd never actually use then, and most of the time it wouldn't even ben on display
