So I have some news....

I know I am not around here as much as I once was, I still check in daily though (yeah yeah I've been a lurker! But it's only b/c I care ;)

Anyways, we found out this weekend that the H's job is transfering us to...  Toledeo.  :(  I am still going through the "I don't wanna!" emotion.  But I keep reminding myself this is great for H's job.

As it stands now, his job is not offering us any relocation benefits.  So I probably will still be around these parts for awhile.  I can't imagine our house will be selling very quickly :/

I actually may need lots of GNO's over the next few months.  It looks like H will be commuting to Toledo, either 6 hrs/day or only coming home on the weekends.

I am trying to be positive and happy... but at this point I'm panicking and sad.

Excuse me while I go down another mug of coffee...

Re: So I have some news....

  • Hi Mira! Good to see you here. Hope you've been doing well. I check your blog now and then for updates, but haven't seen any. Have you been feeling okay?

Wow on the job news! Hopefully we'll get to see you before you leave. Prayers that this change will be a positive one for you guys, even though it may not have been what you wanted.

  • Wow - I'm sure everything will be okay but that must be hard to get uprooted.  Hopefully things go well with the transition but that will take awhile to get used to.
  • Oh dear :( Nice that it's good for his job, but the rest...not so nice yet. I hope you are pleasantly surprised with a quick sale of your house! Until then, keep hanging out with us. :)

  • Great news on the job front for him (job security that is). Bummer on moving to toledo. that stinks.

I can't believe they aren't offering him reloaction benefits. Do you think they would be flexible in letting him for long days and having Fridays off or at the very least 1/2 on Friday.

  • What a whirlwind you must be going through!  I hope everything goes really smoothly for you both during this transition period.

And we'll definitely have to have a GNO (or two or three!) before you leave!

  • Wow!  That is big news!!!  Hang in there and feel free to hang out more here!
  • sniff, sniff I don't wanna leave you guys!  Waaah!

HDM: I am doing good.  I think I gave up on the blog.  It was too odd having strangers (I mean REAL strangers, not internet friends) know details about my life.  I have good days and bad days, just like everyone else.  And with blogging it was too easy to get caught up in the bad days.  I figure this is the rest of my life I need to live it and enjoy it.   I do plan to update after check ups and thinks of that nature.  Which may be soon...

GVSU:  no and no.  As it stands right now, we are getting no assistance and H is to work normal hours.   However, I just found out his HR person put in a petition on this matter, so maybe they might change their minds.

  • Holy cow. Is this normal for his company, to just uproot people without warning or options? And no financial assistance, expecting to work normal hours...seems pretty a$$y to me. I would be going crazy if I were you! Hang in there and let us know if we can help at all.

  • That's definitely a lot to take in at once. I for one am always up for GNO's just name the time and place. Hopefully it'll be a smooth transition and your house will sell faster than expected.
  • I hope that his company can work something out to help out with the move, and I hope that your house sells quickly!  You have a PM.
  • Oh wow, you have a lot to think about and deal with!  Congrats on the job, that is great news :)  You'll get through this, think positive and make it exciting!!

  • Woah.

That has added a bit of chaos for you guys, eh?

    Some other thoughts:

    1) Toledo has a great zoo.

    2) You don't have to leave us.  We're here.  Just not, well you know, there...

    hugs.  A lot of them.

  • Wow, we've thought about moving to Cleveland (greater) but I can't imagine Toledo.  At least you'll have some bigger cities that you can visit on either side of you.  That move would definitely stress me out though.  I don't know what will happen when DH is done with school and we have to contemplate uprooting everything.  At least that we get to do somewhat on our own terms.

I hope that the petition moves something in your favor so that you can find a sense of normalcy sooner rather than later.

  • Wow, big news!  Wishing you the best with this transition!  Stick around the board though.  :-)
