Help me choose a dress!

I went to a friend's wedding a couple weeks ago, and I was SO proud of myself for wearing something I already had instead of spending money on a new dress. Then on the way there the realization suddenly hit that I wore the same dress to the same friend's bridal shower. Ultimately not the end of the world (I'm sure no one was paying that close attention to what I was wearing anyway), but I have decided that it gives me an excuse to buy a new dress.

I'm going to the wedding of my husband's coworker (whom I've never met) next weekend. It's an evening wedding in Ohio, at a country club. I'd like to look stylish and somewhat sexy, but in something I can wear on occasions other than just weddings. Here are the options I'm considering:

Re: Help me choose a dress!

  • I voted for the Sapphire CK dress, I like his designs anyways because the silhouettes are clean and classic, and if you're going to spend money on a dress like that, you're going to get some good wears out of it. I tend to veer towards classic than trendy 95% of the time. I like the other CK dress, but really only the back, I'm not a fan of the bunchiness of the front, I don't think it's a flattering design for a woman. That's just my opinion, of course.

Of the others, I really liked the one-shoulder aqua dress.

  • Thanks for your comments! Since the two CK ones are from Zappos (and thus super easy to return for free), I've already ordered them to see how they fit. Strapless dresses are not flattering on me at all, but I'm hoping the one-shoulder style will look okay.

  • LOVE the saphire CK one shoulder!!!

  • The first link didn't work for me.  I'm not a fan of any of them really, but I think the sapphire CK one is the one I like the most.

  • the first link also did not work for me.....

i like the saphire one the best, i think the other one shoulder dress is a bit prom like, and the ruched aubergine one looks slightly 80's ....

  • aw I like the 'send me a postcard' dress. I think that the fabric and ruching on the two CK ones could be bad - granted you're very thin.
  • Thanks for your opinions, ladies! The Zappos dresses should be here Monday so I'll try the saphire CK one and see how it looks. I'm more concerned about how the one-shoulder style will look on my body than the ruching, but we'll see!

  • The CK dresses arrived today. I like them both a lot, but they are way too big for me and Zappos doesn't have a smaller size. I guess it's back to the drawing board...
