I used to love them when I was little because we would camp out in the basement.
However, as an adult at work when the sirens are going off and they are coming over the city speakers to say take shelter immediately I find them much less exciting.
And clearly no one in my office has decided to take shelter since I am here typing, surronded by windows. Great.
Re: Tornados
That sucks. Has the weather been really bad recently up there Britt?
I hate tornados. I used to live on the third floor of an apt and would always freak when I heard them bc I didn't know my neighbors on the first floor and that would have been the safest place except for in my closet.
Thats scary!
I never used to be scared of them because we were all under the impression that tornados didnt like mountains since in my grandparents lives they had never heard of one in Maine.
Well then global warming happened & now theyre a very scary reality not only in the state but mostly right where I live. The last 3 big ones have been within 15 miles of here which I dont care for at all.
One time there was a funnel cloud forming and my roommate and I had both locked our keys in our apartment. The apartment manager was out of town so we had to call a back up (after finding someone with a phone) and while we were waiting we sat in the back of her truck and watch the cloud form and touch ground.
Very scary. We had no idea what to do since we were locked out of the apartment and both vehicles. And we don't exactly get tornados very often.

Taking Control:Updated 1/7
I almost think those of us that get them multiple times a year become immune. Last week (I think?) the tornado sirens went off for the 3rd time before I decided I needed to turn on the TV and see what was going on. Turns out they touched down about 5 miles from us. Oops!
Hope it's all ok where you are!
