went home to find...

DH sorting through his clothes.  I told him I refused to put away any of his clothes after doing laundry until he got rid of some.  His underwear and sock drawers were bursting at the seams.  I was happy to see him tossing out clothes from his closet and dresser.  He then roped me into it.  I was on my lunch break and didn't have a ton of time, but he convinced me to go through my t-shirt drawer.  I have trouble parting with clothes.  I always think I'll eventually wear something or it might eventually fit me again.  DH is tough.  He makes me toss anything he doesn't see me wear.  The only t-shirts that were off limits were my college t-shirts and my Poison t-shirts.  I LOVE Poison, and DH loves to harass me about it.  So me wearing those t-shirts provide entertainment for him. Stick out tongue

I feel better about getting rid of some clothes. Next, I need to tackle my closet.

  • it's funny to me that you wanted him to get rid of some of his clothes but it was hard for you to do the same.  LOL.

  • If you know how to sew, or know someone who does--- make a quilt out of your favorite tshirts and then you can keep the others!  :)

I'm hoping to do this!  My MIL makes quilts, and I'm planning on asking if she could make me a quilt of my favorite t-shirts.  I can't remember where I saw this idea, but I loved it.  DH just rolled his eyes when I told him.  He thinks we have too many blankets, but I don't think that's possible.  Stick out tongue

  • I read a blog post about organizing not too long ago, and the writer said something that stuck with me.  She said that you pay for your clothes twice when you keep stuff you dont wear: with money when you buy it and with storage space when you keep it.

I try to keep that in mind when I "purge" my closet Smile

That's a really good quote!  I might have to write it on a Post-It note and stick it next to my closet.  Maybe that'll help me in choosing my clothes each morning.  I'm definitely guilty of wearing the same things all the time, even though I have tons of new stuff.  Embarrassed

  • I wish your DH would tell my DH the secret joy of male purging.  Because he will NOT do it.  DH now has more than half the closet, his entire dresser, the guest room dresser, part of that closet, and his uniforms (military) are in the coat closet downstairs.  Oh, and the 2 rubbermaid tubs of race Tshirts that he will never wear again!

After clearing the closets to go to the cleaners for the water damage claim, I am further sickened by how much clothing he has.  I have seen him wear MAYBE 7 pieces of clothing from the closet in the last 4 years.
