I think I've seen it called a "launch pad?" It's basically a place where everything you need to get out of the house is kept organized and ready to go. I have my purse, my bag for work, and my bag for school. Right now, I just leave them sitting on the floor in the dining room. We don't really have an entry way. Our front door comes directly into the dining room, but we rarely use it. We have a screened-in porch that opens into our kitchen, and we usually use that door. TIA for any suggestions!

The kitchen is usually a great place for a message center as well! Do you have any wall space around the door you use most often?
I would suggest buying yourself a wall hanging coat hook rack (usually 4-6 hooks is plenty) hang it on the wall where it's close to the door, if you want to make this "exit center" especially effective, you can hang a bulletin board/dry erase board directly above the hooks (don't hang hooks too high) and set a milk crate and rug on the floor under the hooks (for shoes and hats/mittens) Then you can use the hooks for your coats and purse, the milk crate can hold all of your winter essentials and like umbrella's etc. and you'd have a rug to wipe/put shoes on your way in. Also you have a place to leave messages pictures or other notes that you want your spouse/ sig other to see
I like these ideas.
They make really pretty shelves to hang on the wall that have coat/bag knobs underneath them. If you husband is handy he could make you one for fairly cheap too. My Dad made one and since they don't have a fireplace that is where they hang their stockings for christmas too. It is really cute! Wish I had a picture...
Also you could find some really cute decorative sturdy baskets to store shoes, gloves, scarves, etc. I knew someone that had a big basket that they kept right by the garage door and as soon as they walked in the door they put their shoes in it. It made it so no one was tracking in mud and dirt and the kids didnt have to search for their shoes every morning when getting ready for school!
