My in laws decided to get rid of their blu ray DVD's and gave them all to us. We rarely ever buy DVD's, we just borrow or rent from netflix. Now I don't know where to put these things!! We don't have room in our TV cabinet, we have one drawer and it is for video game stuff.
I was thinking of buying some wicker baskets to put the DVD's in and put it in the hall closet or the armoire in our master bedroom. Any other ideas??
Thanks!
Re: How do you store DVD's??
I recently moved all of our DVDs into binders. They're in alphabetical order by title, with a slot or two between each DVD for expansion. If the disc didn't have the title of the movie on it, I wrote it in sharpie so that we would know what movie it was. The sharpie looks kind of ugly, but they're compact and organized so it doesn't matter much to me.
Then I recycled the paper inserts and cover art. The cases were all donated to my library if they were in good condition. The library uses them to replace cases that have been broken in their collection.

Another nestie over on D&R bought a few of these under the bed storage bins for their DVD's and they hold them perfectly! They fit a TON of DVD's in there and they just slide nicely under the bed. I'm actually contemplating this idea for us since we have a ridiculous number of DVD's!
You can get them at Walmart, Target, Ikea, etc. for less than $10.

We got boxes at Target that are like mini file cabinets. They come with sleeves and each sleeve has the metal hooks to go over the metal bars so it really is like a filing cabinet. There is a spot to write the title. We just put one DVD in each sleeve (there are two slots, front and back, for two-disc movies). One box is animated/kid movies, the rest are organized by genre and then alphabetically. My husband is VERY into old films, Film Noir, etc. so his organization only makes sense to him.
The boxes were $14 each and hold 50 DVDs.
My only complaint is the boxes are covered with a linen fabric that can get dusty. So we keep them in an IKEA bookcase with glass doors.
This is right on key with I was going to say. Its just easier in the military (especially when your a single person) and moving around from place to place or training to training or even from house to ship(for those sailor types) to have them all in binders in alphabetical order or in case of tv series in order of the series. And I also cant bring myself to get rid of Disney cases I am thinking in the future of children pulling the disks out or the fact they are classics I just cant do it so I have those stacked in the entertainment center.
