I'm going to put a sign on my door

that says: If you tell me how big I am, how tired I look or ask me when the babies are coming, I am going to FVCKING KILL YOU.

I've hit my breaking point. I am now miserable and don't want to talk to anyone. I don't even want to give food service my lunch order.

My doctor said if the babies don't come this week on their own, we will take them out next week, at 36 weeks. Her partner came in today (they share rounds) and told me that 36 is too early to schedule a csection and he would wait until 37 or 38.  These two have not been on the same page ONCE since I got here and it's making me INSANE.

Re: I'm going to put a sign on my door

  • Since 37 weeks is 'full term' will they let you out of the hospital/bedrest at some point? (if doctor #2 gets his way of waiting that is).

And lookit you, 35 weeks!  When is your growth scan again?

  • How frustrating that your docs don't agree.  Which one do you want to listen to?

  • Sorry, all of that sounds very frustrating.  Especially having docs that aren't on the same page.  Hang in there though.  You've done great and soon you will get to meet your wonderful babies and you'll forget all about this!

  • You sound tired.

Seriously, though -- I can't believe you haven't gone bananas on hospital bedrest this long.

  • I've been on bedrest for 9 weeks, 6 of them being in the hospital. I'm ready to lose it.

I can walk a little bit now so we take laps around the unit at night when my H is here. I had a growth scan on Friday and the babies were 5lb8oz and 5lb11oz so they are a good size. I've also had 2 rounds of steroids and we can clearly see them practicing breathing on the u/s. I'd be comfortable with them coming next week.

The man dr isn't my doctor and the first time I saw him was when my doctor was on vacation and he sent me to the hospital for bedrest. They take turns on who is more conservative. He said I am staying til 34, she said I might go home at 32, until I got that positive ffn. He said I could go home at 34, she said no way because of the fluid issue.  I'll do what I need to do but don't keep telling me two different things! Arrrrrrrrrrrrgh

  • You totally rock for making it this far!

There's not a lot you can control, but you should tell the doctors that it is hard to be confident in their advice when they keep telling you contradictory things.

    image
  • My doctor told her partner to stop telling me I might go home because I wasn't so I am going to mention it to her again tomorrow and tell her he's making me crazy.

  • Your frustration is certainly understandable.  But SQUEEEEEEE at making it so far!  Congratulations on that, seriously.

Hang in there.  Find your happy place.  Calm blue ocean...calm blue ocean...

  • B, I suggest you use the rest of your time in hospital to make a video like this.

  • That video was hilarious and I totally needed that.

  • Hezz finds the most bizarre stuff!

I suppose it is a nice private place to repetitively mast....icate (it means chew!).

  • When the big maternity hospital in Rhode Island got an upgrade last year, they added professional salon space for women who are on long-term bedrest.  They can have their private hairdresser come in to work on them.  I thought that was fabulous. ETA: I meant to put this in the hair post, above.
  • That video is hysterical.  I had just had to stifle a laugh as a cough/sneeze thing.

Bermuda - T&Ps (the good fluffy soft quilted kind, not the thin bum-scratchy kind) that you make it through this with your sanity in tact and two beautiful babies!

  • Bermuda, I am beyond impressed with you.  I can't imagine how stir crazy I'd be at this point.  Good work growing those babies.  I hope you spend at least part of your time perfecting your guilt trip for when they do bad stuff ("I was on bed rest for nine weeks with you two.  For most of it, I could only shower every third day. You're welcome.")

Seriously, you are in the home stretch now.  Just keep reminding yourself that you're down to days, not weeks.

  • You are a very, very good mama

  • oh man, after reading that i believe you are well within your rights to post that sign, with glitter and everything. i think your doctors also need to have someone knock their heads together, how frustrating!! hang in there a little longer, you've displayed superhuman patience and have done a great job! those babies are lucky to have you for a mommy!
    image
  • how frustrating for you, but YAYAYAYAY babies are over 5 FREAKING POUNDS and practicing breathing already!!!  As the others have already stated, you are a rock star and way to take one for the "Team".  They'll owe you lots of chores when it comes time for that . . .
    image
  • You're doing such a great job; I'm in awe!

I would totally post that sign, or make myself a t shirt.

  • Even if the fvckers can't make up their minds about when to send you home, you're in the home stretch! You're almost done & you've done an amazing job for your babes.

I can't wait till you post their cute faces. Aw, new babies are making me feel mushy.

Sometimes I wonder if scientists have never seen a sci-fi movie before. "Oh yes, let's create a super species of deer. NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG." I wonder if State Farm offers a Zombie Deer Attack policy. -CaliopeSpidrman
