Inconsiderate people vent...

So I stayed at work a little longer today to do some homework because I was supposed to meet my sister at David's to look for wedding dresses today.  When I went to drive off, I heard a noise, so I stopped to see if I had a flat tire.  Oh how I wish it was...  Someone hit my car in the parking lot and did not leave any information.  I am going to get some quotes from body shops before I file a claim because we have a $500 deductible and I don't even want to know how much our insurance will go up if I have to file a claim.  The person did leave some paint on my car, so I will be on the look out for a teal colored car that has some good damage to the front of theirs....

Re: Inconsiderate people vent...

  • That sucks, we had the same thing happen to our vehicle several years ago. Someone hit the side of it in a hotel parking lot and then ran, we never bothered to fix the dent.
  • That sucks :(  Did you call the cops? I would have filed a report since there was stuff from their car left. My moms car got hit in front of our house and the guy drove off (it was parked on the street) and the moron that hit it actually called the police a couple of hours later and said someone backed in to his car at an intersection then drove away.

Seriously???  That's total crap.  Yes, I called the campus police.  They made a report and told me that if I happen to see a car that is the same color as the paint left behind that has damage done to its front, I can call them to look at it.  I know there is no way the person didn't realize they hit my car.  There is way too much damage done.  In fact, there is more damage now than when I was sideswiped (while driving) just before Christmas.

  • Well at least you weren't IN the car and no one was hurt or anything. But yes that does suck and it's a shame that not everyone has common courtesy.
  • UGH people like that make me mad.  Someone did that to my car twice, but left no paint on it.  How rude, but I agree with Tami at least you weren't in it.

  • That happened to me a few years ago in my own parking lot at home...someone drove into the passenger side of my car and never left anything, and since it was on the other side of my car, I never noticed it. I have a decent car, so I wanted to get it fixed, and I paid $400-something and insurance never even had to cover it b/c my deductible was $500. But a really crappy way to spend that much money for something that was not my fault. That is so rude and inconsiderate to leave and not do that. When I was in college, I hit someone's car enough to cause a little damage, but I knew enough to leave a note under their windshield, and sure enough they called and we had insurance take care of it. But I was so worried that someone saw me through a window or security camera that I had to leave a note. hopefully you find the piece of s--- that hit you!

I agree totally.  I actually just barely missed being nailed in that exact same spot on my way to work.  I was shaking because it freaked me out so badly.  C and I both agreed last night we would rather be paying to fix this since I wasn't in the car than having to worry about the baby and me if I had been in it at the time.  Thankfully C's dad has been dealing with car stuff his entire life, so he was able to find some deals, and we should be able to do everything for just under $400 on our own.  My quote from the body shop was $1800, and that was cutting me a few deals.  I am so so so happy we won't need to file a claim with insurance!!
