Wop and other decorating nesties

I need some help/inspiration for my guest bath.  It's very blah.   I went to BB&B yesterday and stood in the towel and rug section for what seemed like hours.  Nothing jumped out at me.

I need to pick paint color(s), rugs, towels, artwork, hardware and a window treatment.

Do you have any suggestions/inspiration pictures to share?

What about taking the chair rail next to the toilet and under the window around the whole room and doing colors similar to this?  It would match the colors in the floor.

This color is pretty too.  We're actually doing a simlar color and style to this in our bathroom right now.  We're installing white wainscoting just like this too.

Have you thought about painting the vanity white, getting a white mirror, and changing the lights?

I think this would help alot. I also really like wainscoting in bathrooms too.

Yes, I've thought about it.  But it's nothing I want to do now.  I just want to make it liveable for now, in it's current state.  :)

The first thing on the list of things to buy for the house is stuff to fill this empty room:

lol.  Ahhh...lovely, completely empty, livingroom.  :)

I guess I don't really have one.  I like color.  Right now, the basement color "theme" is light blue, navy blue, orange and gray.  We are going for a relaxed and fun atmosphere.  There will be a bar, a game room, a huge tv and huge couch for lounging and watching movies.

Yay!  I'm not the only one :)  My goal is to have it filled by 6 months.  It's been 2 so far :)

  • Ooo.  I just had a thought.  Our neighbors JUST painted their bathroom which looked similar to yours a greyish purple color, its really pretty.  They kept their oak vanity, but changed the mirror.  The color looks really good with the woodwork.  They were originally going to paint the vanity white, but once the color was on the walls, they thought the vanity actually looked good the way it was.  I'll ask her tonight what color they painted.

Thank you!  That would be awesome.

My only worry is that it's a color similar to one of our main floor baths.  Do you think it's weird to have bathrooms that are decorated or painted in similar colors?

The one I'm talking about is painted in a light grey/blue/purple.  I tried to pull the light blue out of it by decorating with browns, greens, and blues.

  • The color they painted is quite a bit darker than what you show in that bathroom, so I don't think you would need to worry about colors looking too similar.

Our living room was empty for over a year, too.  I felt like such a grown up when we finally put furniture in it!!

  • I was really on a budget & time crunch when I bought my house.  My two bathrooms are the exact same color.  However, they don't really look like it because I put more blue/dolphin themed stuff in one and palm trees & tropical greens in the other.  The accessories bring out different pigments in the paint so they don't really look the same unless you were take a paint swatch from one to the other.  Not to mention, my immediate family members are the only people who actually go in both bathrooms.
  • One of our bathrooms is brown. I LOVE it. We painted walls and ceiling all the same color to make it look bigger. Our shower curtain has big red stripes with a few smaller brown stripes to tie in the color. I found some little wall plaques with red in them. The brown would actually match the flooring you have in there right now! I sent you a link on FB to my blog that shows pics.

  • My master bathroom is the room that I let close friends/family use for overnight (since it has the awesomly huge relaxing tub in it)

I did my master bathroom chocolate brown with cream trim on the walls.

I hung up cream towels, with chocolate brown washclothes for decoration.  I have folded towels/washclothes on a shelf near the tub to actually be used.

I keep a colorful plant in there - to keep it from being too neutral.  The plant changes often, because I can't seem to keep them alive.

I keep hooks on the back of the door for my robes.
