I would also like your opinions!

I know its a little early to start on my Christmas shopping, but that's the way we do it in my family =] I need suggestions for my 17 (almost 18) year old sister. I know you all don't know her, but I thought you might be able to help. I was thinking a nice scarf, hat and glove set for her to wear when she's walking around her college campus. She told me a couple weeks ago she doesn't carry a purse to school because its too much with her backpack and computer case. We wear the same size/style clothes so I could always go that route. She's into sports and hunting, but she's not as big of a tomboy as she used to be. I gave her a bracelet last year that says follow your dreams and has a compass on it so I don't want to do jewlery again. I'm probably over thinking this lol but I already know what I'm getting my other sister (she's 9 and wants a Taylor Swift cd) and both sets of parents. Suggestions please???

  • I know this is a little impersonal, but maybe a gift card to her favorite store?

  • Thats actually a good idea! I don't know why I didn't think of that. She would love one from Gander Mtn I bet.

  • gift cards are always great- is there a restaurant around campus her and her friends like to go to?

I also like your idea of a hat, scarf and gloves as long as you think she'll wear it, I love those things! And if she is walking alot of campus that would be good.

  • I think either the hat/scarf set or clothes are always good! Parents are always tricky. Do they like to go to sports games, plays, or anything like that? There's always Ticketmaster gift cards.

She goes to a very small private college and as far as I know there aren't any restaurants on campus. Right now she doesn't have a job so maybe a gift card she could use anywhere? That way she could spend it on clothes, food, etc?

  • I like your idea for the scarf / hat / gloves or a gift card.

As far as parents go, maybe a gift for both of them like a nice gift card to a resteraunt they like so they can go to dinner?  Theatre tickets? Book store gift cards?  Really depends on what they're into...

  • I like the idea of a Visa gift card that she could use anywhere. You could package it up with a little trial-size body lotion from Bath & Body Works so she has a little "gift" to unwrap, too. They always have those fun holiday scents. Smile

    I like it!

For both sets of parents I'm going to make a photo book or photo albumn of our wedding pictures and get them a framed large wedding photo.

    this is a great idea!

  • I like the suggestions the other girls gave you.  I have one suggestion of what NOT to get.

This is what my older sister got me when I was in my first year of university.  A nightshirt (I haven't worn a nightgown or nightshirt since i was 5, they are impossible to sleep in because they ride up and end up in a bunch under my armpits.)  It was baby blue.  It had ducks on it.  It was a size XL (I was a size XS at the time).  She bought it at Walmart.  Her rational was that she figured I would want something "cute" to wear around my dorm.  It remains the worst gift I've ever received.

I gave it to my mom, who loved it.

BAHAHAHAHA.... I'm fairly certain that there were girls in my dorm building that wore this exact nightshirt.... Although it was probably the girl who also rode her bike everywhere and ALWAYS wore her helmet (even when not riding her bike).  She wasn't quite all there.

  • She seriously wore a helmet all the time?  that is REALLY special.  Short bus special.

  • Yeah, no joke.  She would practically run people over if they were walking on the sidewalks on campus and would always scream "LOOOOK OUT!!!!"  But when she wasn't on her bike, she would unbuckle the chin strap but leave the helmet on.  In the dorms, in classrooms, etc.
