Time to start labeling my food in the work fridge
Last time I had a salad for lunch I left half a bottle of salad dressing in the fridge. Today I went to get it out and was down to one last serving size! How kind of my coworkers to leave me enough for one more salad so I would know to bring more in for next time.

Oh that's crummy!!
I used to bring in things like salad dressing and ketchup to leave at work, and EVERYONE used it. So eventually when people would mention they were going grocery shopping I would say things like "Oh, will you pick up more butter/creamer/dressing for the fridge here?" so I wasn't just supplying the whole staff with condiments!
ETA: We were only ever a staff less than 10 people at my location, so that's why this approach worked.
A good trick:
I bring my lunch in a plastic bag so I can write my name on the outside with the date (everyone is supposed to name and date their stuff). If I bring in salad dressing I leave in wrapped in the plastic bag while it is in the fridge and usually no one touches it.
Putting it in a bag is a good idea! That way it will be hidden and I won't get ID'ed as the jerk who writes her name on food (no one else does that with their food).
I bought some milk last week to put in my coffee and people have been using that too. With the milk I don't really mind though because I really use like a tablespoon a day, and I bought a quart of it and it doesn't last forever, so there is no way I would use it all. But salad dressing will stay for a long time! Long enough for me to take a few weeks off of salad and expect to still have the same amount of dressing in the fridge. Sigh.
