anyone watch the new series Lone Star on Monday?

I did because it was on after House and there was nothing else that piqued my interest.

They try to make the main character sympathetic but for pete's sake.  Dude's a con man living two lives and married to two women.  I'm interested to see where it's going (and there are a couple well known actors in it like Jon Voight!) but the premise just makes me feel icky.  Awww, poor guy's cons might catch up on him and he might lose one or both of the women he loves.  Waah-waah.

but I just looked it up on wiki and apparently the premiere drew such low viewers that it might be cancelled after only 1 epi.  hmmmmm.

  • i saw it for the same reason you did, and i also had a hard time knowing what to make of it. i didn't quite understand how tore up he was feeling about making the decision to go whole hog on the big money 'life' leaving the other one behind because dude, you were two timing both these women the whole time anyway.

i was trying to figure out what it was that made his father say he was the best con man he'd ever seen. is it his crooked puppy dog smile? i submit that it is.

i dunno. i also thought the timing, the dialogue, the lighting, everything seemed a little slapped together, though i know that is common for pilots so i will let it slide for now.. so far all the characters fall in the 'insufferable chach' category too.

  • I meant to DVR it and totally forgot. Your comments surprised me though, I heard this was the "must see" show of the fall. Weird.

However, I did watch "Boardwalk Empire" on Sunday and really enjoyed it.

I bet her FUPA's name is Shane, like the gunslinger/drifter of literature.--HappyTummy
  • This is the one partially based in Houston, right?

yeah, I don't even want to live here. I cannot imagine watching a show based here.

I had the exact same reaction when I saw commercials, so I didn't watch.

I'm tempted to watch an episode or two of the new Jimmy Smits Supreme-Court-Justice-turned-trial-lawyer show, just to see for myself how awful it is.
