pregnant?

Heres the deal... I have been feeling like this for the last week or so. My boobs are super sore and popping out of my low cut bras. Is sooo tired, like falling asleep at any point, my lower back aches, and I've been moody. And since yesterday I've had killer cramps.

I have been on Mirena (IUD) for almost two years. One of the side effects is that you loss your period. So this morning I took a hpt and it was negative. Okay what the heck. I havent felt well since I started getting these symptoms, not bad like flu, just weird.  I was talking to H yesterday who is a nurse and he's like " are you prego" I dont know what to do since the test was negative. What should I do? I was thinking about waiting a week and taking another test if I still feel this way and then possibly going to the dr. Am I overreacting and should just take a chill pill?

Re: pregnant?

  • I would suggest going to the Dr. to see if they can do a blood test.  If in fact you are pregnant - I would think that having a IUD in place would be kinda dangerous to baby...  DH and I are trying to get pregnant - and it seems like I have had all of those symptoms the past few months because I've been obsessing about it  Maybe you are having those symptoms because you are going to be getting your period.  When was the last time you had it??  Good luck to you, and let us know if anything new develops!

  • Yes, schedule a pregnancy test at the doctor's office. The over-the-counter tests like EPT and First Response are able to detect the pregnancy hormone right around the time you'd get your period. So, if your ovulation schedule is "normal," that would be about 2 weeks after conception. The pregnancy tests at doctor's offices are more sensitive, so they are able to detect the pregnancy hormone much sooner than over-the-counter pregnancy tests.

And yes, all of your symptoms are common in pregnancy, especially early in pregnancy. I knew I was pregnant even before taking a pregnancy test, because of all of those symptoms. But, yes, it is also possible that you're creating those symptoms in your head. I know I do that sometimes when I'm being a hypochondriac :)

  • Oh, and my two cents would be to take a test at the doctor's sooner rather than later, because if you were pregnant, you'd want the IUD removed ASAP, and you'd want to begin taking prenatal vitamins, etc.

  • I have an appt. tomorrow afternoon. I'll let you know how it goes. But I felt much better today then I have the last few days. I slept for almost 11 hours last night! I went home and fell asleep at 7 and then woke up when my alarm went off at 5:30 this morning! H thinks that I just cycle without ovulating ( thats why I dont get my period). So lets hope thats the case, but I guess I'll see tomorrow.

  • Good luck! Maybe your system is just out of whack? My period came about five days early this cycle, which NEVER happens, cause I'm on BC. I blame it on stress -- the wedding, post-wedding life, etc. I'm so happy to be married, but it's been a HUGE change for me (moving from DC to Baltimore, having a 2-hour commute each way to work, etc). So maybe it has something to do with all the changes in your life :)
  • Sorry it took me so long to get back to update. I went to the doc on Friday. And I'm not pregnant. I feel a little over dramatic about the whole thing. But its nice to have some peice of mind. I also got checked for ovarian cyst that could be causing me pain and happen with the IUD and nothings in there. She said my body is just outta wack. Its always better to be safe then sorry!
