AW: Joined WW

I joined weight watchers today for the buy one month get one free plan. DH also dragged me to the gym which was good, though there is something wrong with my knee and it feels pretty crappy now. Tomorrow I officially start tracking my points.

Who else is doing WW? We should share recipes. That's my biggest issue, I never know what to make.

Re: AW: Joined WW

  • I'm doing WW too!  Lost 5lbs last week! :)  I have a couple recipes that are pretty good, but otherwise I adapt my regular recipes to fit in a certain number of points.  I have a great recipe for chicken parm which is 6 points, 7 if you add cheese, including noodles and sauce.

  • My dad did WW for a while.  They have some great cookbooks.  I don't remember which ones my parents have, but all of the ones they have are really good.

  • Good job Becky!

They have some new cookbooks which are apparently better than the older ones. I've been on their website saving a few recipes for starters. I think my issue is I have a hard time finding new recipes generally. I'm starting to get more adventurous with my cooking though (I wouldn't cook fish or meat up until recently).

  • I'm pretty much a lurker now but I just have to comment on this!

WW is the BEST program ever.  My first time around, I lost 50+ pounds and I'm working on my second time around now... All I can say is that weight loss is a journey and you have to take the ups and downs.

I think the most important part is being honest with yourself.  I am doing a blog now (just started) to help keep myself honest and it has some ww stuff and will continue to so check it out if you are looking for a good food find or help motivating because I will be putting up stuff that motivates me: http://slowestpoke.tumblr.com/

Good luck with the program but most of all, good luck on making a LIFESTYLE change.

    =)

We've been missing you around here! I did WW in 2007/2008 and lost 20 lbs. That was going off BC and only changing eating habits (no exercise). As of today I've gained back less than 6 lbs (back on BC) which isn't too bad considering I've been going at it alone - not counting points. I'm hoping to lose 20 by my bday at the end of March. I'm definitely going to check out your blog :)

  • Good for you! I joined a week ago.. my second meeting is tomorrow! I was pretty happy that I only gained 1.8 pounds since my last meeting in January. I bought a cookbook at the meeting last week, it was only $5 (part of some month long September sale). It's called "Now and Later". Cook dinner with one recipe and use the leftovers to make something else. Looks like there are tons of good recipes.

Yesterday for dinner we had pork and saurkraut. Instead of potatoes, my DH boiled cauliflower and mashed it. Mixed in FF sour cream, milk, salt, pepper, garlic power and parsley. They were amazing!!! And add a side of broccoli. Kraut, mashed cauliflower and broccoli are zero points.. just count the pork and it was SO good!

    Enjoy and good luck!

  • I was looking at that cookbook. If they still have it next week, I'll check it out again. It seemed like the recipes had 4 portions and then you're supposed to use the leftovers to make something else, we'd just eat the leftovers the next day or a couple days later.
