**Vacuum Recommendations Please**

Our vacuum is dead... I need to get a new one this week, sooner than later. I'd love to get a dyson, but it's out of our budget right now.  Can you recommend one for me?

I need it to be good for dog hair and kids!  I need the attachments too.  Thanks!!

Re: **Vacuum Recommendations Please**

  • I recently bought a Bissell Power Groom and love it.  I don't have kids but we do have a hairy Golden Retriever.

My friend also loves the Bissell Lift Off.  Apparently it's a lifesaver if you have a lot of stairs.

I don't want to be on MSNBC, yo.
  • Whatever you do, do NOT get a Hoover Linx. I loved the idea of a cordless light vacuum for daily clean up. This cost about $200 and stopped working after a couple months. I took it to a repair shop, it worked for another week and broke again. I ended up buying a shark which is ok. I dont like the way it vacuums my rugs but I do like the way the attachments have strong suction for corners and floorboards. I am still in search of the perfect vaccuum.
  • A few months ago my MIL bought us the Hoover Windtunnel Pet Rewind because we have a VERY long haired cat who sheds like crazy and she knew we were in the market for a new one (very thoughtful!!). I vacuumed in the morning with our old vacuum and my husband brought home the new one after he had lunch with his mom, and I vacuumed with it in the evening and I could have made another cat out of the hair it picked up!!! It has a switch to work on hard floors too and it is perfect! It gets all of the kitty litter off of the bathroom floor without slinging it all over the bathroom! The attachments are also wonderful, they get into all of the nooks and crannies!  I am very pleased with this vacuum! Hope this helps!!
  • Thanks! I'm going to the store today and they have all of these... I'll take a peek at them all!  Thank you!

  • I would also say if you can hold off until the day after Thanksgiving - we found a Dyson at Target for $200 off the regular price, and it was the pet hair one, at a Black Friday sale. Worth a try, Kohls had some on sale that day too so I'm sure somebody will!
  • I don't think my kids or dog will allow me to wait. I currently have no vacuum  :(

  • Buy a DYSON!!!!! I love mine and you don't have to buy the pet specific one to get the same benefits. and all their atttachments come with the vacuum like the house and a brush but you can always buy extras. I have a german shepherd and i can use the dyson to vacuum the couch and her bed. They are lightweight and efficient

LOVE IT so far!!  My son's room has a  dark green carpet. We've never seen it so green before.

  • Craigslist?

I know a used vacuum is mildly sketchy but if it's just for a couple months and you end up w/ a Dyson, I'd do it.

  • I recently got a Shark Navigator as a gift and I couldn't be happier. I vacuumed my whole house twice with our old vacuum, and when the Shark got home I vacuumed again and I was shocked at how much it picked up.

We didn't have an old or worn out vacuum either, we had a Bissell Pet Hair Eraser and it was only about a year old.
