Macon restaurants?

Hi - for work I need to give a list of good Macon restaurants to a client going to the area.  I have no clue, having not been there.  All the review sites like Yelp, etc. show different top restaurants.  I was hoping some Nesties could help me out?

Nice, casual, etc. doesn't matter.

Thanks!

Re: Macon restaurants?

  • Oh gosh... I hardly ever ate in Macon beyond chain restaurants when I lived in the area, so I'm not much help. I hope SunMoon&Stars or one of the other Middle GA Nesties can help you out.

You could probably find something good Downtown, but be careful of the area, especially at night. Macon is famous for their Nu-Way Weiners and Fincher's BBQ is always a favorite, but those are quick lunch counter destinations.

  • Check out H & H. It's only open 6:30a-4p Mon. thru Sat. but sooooo good.

  • The Tic Toc Room is semi-upscale, but the food is really awesome (and I'm not just saying it because I know the chef)!  Luigi's is across the street and has good Italian food.

Nu-Way Weiners has been a Macon staple for years and years.  I've never eaten at H&H, but I hear it is good.

  • Hi BG! I don't live in Macon, but close enough to have gone to some places. Here are the ones weve been to and like, in no particular order:

Edgar's Bistro: Eclectic fine dining with very elegant atmosphere and great food, profits support the Salvation Army :) Live jazz bands. Love this place!

Market City Cafe - Downtown, casual but with an upscale-ish classic atmosphere. Great lunch spot, awesome homemade tuna salad.

Lemongrass Bistro - eclectic Thai/sushi. Smallish place with short menu, but very good.

Marco - high-end fine dining Italian, expensive but with the service and food to match. Gets mixed reviews online, but I absolutely loved it. I think it's reservations only.

Shogun - Japanese, has good sushi (not easy to find in Macon)

    Carrabba's  - Italian - I know, I know, it's a chain - but a very good one.

Ingleside Village Pizza - casual, fun pub-like atmosphere, huge, creative menu and great beer selection.

I haven't been, but have heard very good things about Downtown Grill and Natalia's (another high-end Italian place, reservations required)

    Hope this helps:)

  • Oh, I have to second Shogun and Ingleside Village Pizza.  Ingleside has the most awesome breadsticks in the world!
