Halloween Party Ideas---Oct 23rd!

Has anyone thrown a Halloween party before? This is the first time I actually have a house to throw one in and I want it to be awesome.

Any thoughts or ideas welcome.

And if you want to come let me know! :D

Re: Halloween Party Ideas---Oct 23rd!

  • I love Halloween!!!   I think LT is pretty much a pro at Halloween decor and party-throwing, so she will definitely have some good advice!!

IMO, the more fun, "creepy" decor the better!!  Spider webby things, dim lights with purple and orange bulbs where possible, skeletons, zombies, etc.

And I love themed foods/drinks too...    Witches Brew punch, "Mummy dogs" (hotdogs in thin strips of crescent rolls),  "Finger" cookies, Dirt cake made to look like a graveyard, plastic spiders frozen in ice cubes, etc.

And music too!!  A creepy soundtrack with eerie noises plus fun songs like "I put a spell on you" and "Monster Mash", etc.

  • HAHA only cause it's my fav holiday!!!!

We made tombstones with funny sayings like "Mary Jane Died April 20". Put those in front yard. We had a smoke machine too.

We had a cool jackolantern and then stuck toothpicks with cheese and meat and olives all over it.  (very hell raiser)

I have a HUGE playlist at home I made of fun spooky songs.  I looked all over internet for fun songs and then I got CD's from Library. (use your imagination as to what happens next)

We had a costume contest.  I got little $5.00 thingy from Wendy's and McDonalds to give as my prizes.  I got ribbons from the $1 store for the runners up in each contest.

We dyed our keg red (they couldn't do orange).

hrmm I'm sure I'll think of more but Merin's really the authority she goes to a super bash every year!  I get all my ideas for costumes from her pics...haha

  • Is it an adult party?  we made a drink with dry ice, grape juice and vodka, in a black hween bucket. It was cool made it frozen slushy like and then it was smooky like a witches brew...

I'd say a fog machine and strobe light are a must =)  We used to have Kick Arse Hween parties before the babies came along, LOL!   If you have any floresent lights they make cool effects too.

Sounds like LT has the music hookup.. but also you could arange regular dance/club music prior just for some fun dancing.  Again not sure what type of party your looking to have.  But I think bon/pit fires are fun too w/ hween parties.

Big Lots and $ stores have cute decor for cheap.

Deffinatly promote everyone wearing a costume... that is most of the decor right there =)

  • I got a lot of my stuff at the $1.00 store.

They have cool stuff but shop now...as in this week.  they clean out fast.

  • *Udpate*

I've decided I'm just going to make it a costume party (no further theme needed). And, I'm definitely going to make some "scary" adult drinks! LT do you think you could help me in the music department (since you are the Halloween music queen)?
