Guess what I found in my house last night???

So Adam and I are in the living room watching tv last night.  I get up to go to bed.  I look over and Jax is playing with something.  I figured it was a bug or something so I yell at him to drop it.  He tries to run away with it and then he drops it.  It's a freakin baby snake.  I scream like a little girl for Adam yelling "It's a snake, it's a snake!!"  He was like "yeah whatever" like he didn't believe me and then gets up to come look.  It's a baby rat snake which are completely harmless, but still.... it was IN my house!!  More shreiking ensues as Adam is playing with this thing and keeps acting like he's going to throw it on me.

Now, I used to work at Petco and had NO issues with picking up the snakes there, but they also weren't inside my home!!!  It freaked me out.  Especially when Adam kept saying "I bet there's a nest in the attic or something."  Dude, I hate you.

  • I saw the pictures on FB, holy crap! I would have flipped!!!

HH found a water moccasin in our back yard about a month ago after a heavy rain and he of course had to  take a picture of it before he killed it, ewww and it definitely was not a baby snake.

  • Yeah, I made Adam take it across the street and let it go in the field across from our house.  I'm just freaked out because if there's one baby snake, there are usually more.  I'm just glad my cats are awesome at catching things!!!  It was pretty hilarious when Jax had it in his mouth and tried to run away with it though!

  • Thats freakin crazy!!! I would have done the same thing. We living in the desert on occasion find baby scorpions and let me tell you I totally freak out. We haven't however since moving to this house thank God!!!
  • Oh dear! Yesterday  I let Kota in from playing in the yard and she had a giant weird red bug stuck in the fur by her mouth. It was really creepy looking. And it was still alive lol

  • We find these in our backyard all the time. Um, bugs aren't supposed to have fur....

  • With that thing being that bright it is bound to be posionous isn't it UGH!!! I would come unglued!!!!
  • Not poisonous.... It's called a "cow-killer" and it's actually a wingless wasp.  They WILL sting though.

  • This is one of those times when I'm really grateful to live somewhere with only two kinds of poisonous snakes and no scorpions.

I would freak out if I found a baby snake, too. My first thought was "where there's one of those..."

  • I saw this on FB last night, too. EW EW EW!!! I would have completely come unglued if I had that in my living room!!!

  • wtf!? do you live in a field?! haha how did it get IN your house?!?! i don't get it.

i already forgot who posted about the water moccasin, but i saw you live in houston. when i lived there a billion years ago, we had a really old blind dog and she was walking around the back yard and one bit her foot. being blind, she had no idea what it was and leaned down to sniff it and it bit her face! she was ok after the vet treated it, but my dad went ballistic (she was his very first dog and he LOVED her) and chopped that snake into about a billion pieces.

    that's my snake story. haha

  • also, SCORPIONS!? IN YOUR HOUSE!? unacceptable.

this is why i live far away from these critters.

haha, actually we do kinda live in a field!!!  Directly across the street from us are acres and acres of wheat field!!  Directly behind our house is woods.  Snakes can get in through teeny tiny cracks, holes, vents, etc.  You'd be surprised what snakes can fit through!!  As long as they can squeeze their head through something, the rest of the body can go too.
