Tree Removal and Installation Recos?

Does anyone have any good recommendations for people to remove and/or install trees?  We're looking at removing a couple of gnarly and short Pin Oaks and then installing a couple 7-8' container trees.

Natorps wanted like $200 PER TREE to install and I don't even know how much to remove!  I figure there has to be a cheaper solution...

Or maybe this is a DIY project??

  • My company uses Grasscor Lawn & Landscapes in Madeira.  They are pretty inexpensive and are accommodating when we need something done quickly.  HTH!

  • You could pay someone, but I have also planted a few trees on my own with success.  If you have decent soil, I would think you would be ok.  Maybe the Garden Board could give you some pointers for DIY.

  • We had some excellent tree work done by Arbor Design. Their quote was far more reasonable than anyone else's - we needed a 40ft locust removed and some others trimmed that were barely accessible. AND they were meticulous about cleanup, which included cutting and stacking wood from the removed trees for us.

I checked their references too - and all had glowing recommendations.

  • I suck at making things clicky, but try this link:

It has coupons to numerous landscaping places.  One includes 20$ off tree and shrub installation from Bzak's.

  • BTW- how were the prices at Natorp's sale?  Also, was there a good selection of items that looked prtty healthy? We did a large landscaping project this summer and the combination of no rain and clay soil caused a few plants to not survive.  I was hoping to find the same plants and replace them in the next few weeks.
