Soooo I might be getting a cat. My mom called me a little after 7 this morning in tears. I thought someone had died because she was so upset. But she said while she was ironing she could hear meowing in the backyard and looked out the window to see where the cat was, and then saw a dark mass in the middle of the solar cover on the above ground pool they have. She ran out and got the pool net and was able to drag the cat over, but she was soaked and not moving much and my mom thought she had a broken leg. So I went with her to the vet because she didn't want to go alone and it's about 5 minutes from my work.
She doesn't appear to have any broken bones, just very cold and they're working on trying to get her body temp up because it was only about 84 and I guess 100 is normal for cats. She's beautiful! She's a torti with beautiful shades of orangey red in her and a white chin and green eyes. If she's okay and doesn't have any problems, I might be bringing her home this afternoon. I wasn't planning on this at all, but she's so cute and I feel horrible that she was in the pool probably over night. She had giant mats on her back that my mom thought when she first looked were her leg (hence her thinking it was broken) but they shaved those off. She's clearly a stray that they think is about 3-4 years old, and we just have to make sure she's not pregnant or sick. DH has been gone all week for work, so obviously he knows nothing about this. But we've been discussing getting a kitten recently, and he's wanted a cat, so I don't think he'll be upset, especially when he finds out what happened to her.
I'm trying not to get my hopes up in case she does have something wrong with her, but I'm already trying to think of names, haha. Just had to share how my morning went and that I might have a new bundle of furry joy this afternoon!
