Have to share my birthday ego boosts

For your amusement - I'm being sarcastic about them being boosts, though I can't say they truly bother me either.

A new girl started about a month ago, she's been sharing my office b/c we have nowhere else to put her. She's 22, short (I don't think she's even 5'), and fairly thin. Basically, she looks like she could pass for younger than she is, maybe like 14 at the youngest.  Someone down the hall stopped me yesterday and was all "For awhile, I thought that new girl was your daughter! I was wondering if it was take your kid to work week or something!"  I just laughed it up and then told my officemate about it. We can't figure out the logic of it. Did he think she could be 11, and I had her when I was 16, and that I'm the age that I am (27)?  Or did he think that she was like 16 and I look like I'm in my mid-30's?  We couldn't figure out who should be insulted by it.

I recounted the story this morning to a few people and my supervisor thought it was an appropriate segue to telling me that my fertility is declining. He likes to occasionally ask when I plan to have kids too, as though it's any of his business.
