My mom's been bailing out her basement with a bucket since 3am.

Her sump pump got full and quit working, the plumber said he can't do anything about it because the ground is just too saturated...there are inches of standing water in her basement (her office! - this is where she earns her living) and of course all the carpet is wrecked, as well as some boxes that were stored down there. Thankfully the old family photos and my dad's old papers weren't damaged.

My sister's down there tonight but I get bucket duty tomorrow.

  • That's horrible.  Hopefully the rain has stopped and everything gets cleaned up.

  • Ugh where is she at? We are in Northfield and haven't seen it too bad. But it sounds like just 15 minutes south of us got it.
  • UGH!!  Been through that here with the floods!!  Prayers go out to her!!

PLEASE remember if the water is too high to shut off all electricity!  And I advise going to get a second sump pump and start pumping it outside as soon as you can!  Good luck!!  I'll be thinking about you!!

I was going to suggest a second sump pump as well.  I hope the water is gone soon enough and she can start repairing.

She's also in Northfield but on the south side of town.

The water isn't too bad considering - inches not feet  - but enough to wreak havoc for sure. She moved all her computers and electrical equipment upstairs. I'll suggest a second sump to her.

  • No fun!

My family is down by Rochester. What a mess. My parents have 4" of water in their basement and are considering themselves lucky compared to what some of their neighbors are dealing with.

Well although I don't know her please know I can help out at all if needed/wanted. I can bail water or bring meals etc. PLEASE let me know if you need anything. It sounds like the cannon reached crest this morning.

  • That is awful - hope she's able to get the water out and things dried up as quickly as possible!
