So I ordered a felted hat like a month ago for CM as a gift for helping to plan my shower. About a week after I ordered, the maker emailed me and said her grandson was on life support and she had rushed to Oregon to be with her family but that a family member of hers would still ship it to me. Sorry for the delay.
I was COMPLETELY understanding, told her how sorry I was to hear that and I hope her grandson is okay, and that I understood why there was a delay, no biggie.
So then three weeks after that, still no hat. I decided to reach out to her again yesterday (especially since she told me that someone else would be shipping it) just saying, "Hey, I know you're dealing with a family emergency but I was wondering what the ETA on the hat is as it's a gift and I was wondering if I should go another route . . thanks for your time"
I got an email this morning saying her grandson passed away and the funeral is Monday. : ( She said she'd ship it after that. So now I feel weird and pushy even though I probably shouldn't and she could have just refunded my payment saying "find something else" and I would have understood.

Ouch, that is awkward. Was it terribly expensive? I'd almost lean toward getting CM something else and whenever the hat arrives, hand onto it to gift to someone at another time. Unless it does ship soon.
Either way, you're not weird or pushy. You had no way of knowing what was going on with her.
Also, I got the Angel discs back. That was a lot of packing tape.

CM has this THING with felted hats and it was very difficult to find one that would be big enough for her large bulbous head (I'm not being rude here, she just has a REALLY big head, like man-sized, but prefers woman-styled hats) so I think I'll just let her know there is a delay and I know she'd understand.
