Goooooooood Friday Morning!

Yay Friday!  Freaking finally.

There was no Home Depot trip last night, since someone *coughDerekcough* got home late.  Again.  So, tonight, after we enjoy some pizza pot pie of course, we'll be heading to the big orange.

Tomorrow, I'll be hitting the gym in the morning and then working my way into Toronto for my friends Bachelorette party.

Sunday I plan on making a biiiiig pot of butternut squash soup and recovering from my expected hangover.

What's everyone else up to this weekend?

We'll just not tell H about this little fact, m'kay?

Re: Goooooooood Friday Morning!

  • Okay, after hearing everyone talk about the different recipes on August Cooks, I might have to make some. Pizza pot pie sounds like something I could dig.

Today we have Verizon visiting again, but now our connection is mysteriously working once more. Hmm. I'm still going to have them come out because who the hell knows what's wrong. Then it's off to the gym in the evening. Finishing up my editing assignment, and I'm doing laundry right now.

Tomorrow we're going to the National Book Festival on the Mall. H has a few books he wants signed, and there are a few good presentations, like Jonathan Franzen and Allegra Goodman.

Sunday I have to go into work. :( It's an event, which I am not looking forward to at all. This past week has been great in terms of actual work.

  • Happy Friday ladies!

I have busy weekend ahead.  Saturday, DH the boys and I are heading to NH for a friends annual field day.  I don't get to play this year as I will be on twin duty, but it will still be a great time. I am anxious for the boys to meet some of my friends that live in NH.

Sunday, I have a family wedding. DH was supposed to come with me, but he is slacking in homework,so it will be my first function with just me and boys.  Thankfully my mom will meet me there to give me a hand, but it will probably still be a little overwhelming.

Other then that, you ladies have inspired me to get on the getting healthy bandwagon!  I am excited. I am going to make some time this weekend to remove bad foods from the house, and start making better choices.  I will also be setting goals next week to go out walking with the boys.

  • I even had a short work week with Monday off, and I'm still super excited it's Friday. I have to work next weekend (both days I think) so I'll be savoring this weekend.

Tonight I'm hoping to just relax, but I have a feeling plans will pop up. DH has been working from home most of the week, so I think he's antsy for some human interaction.

Tomorrow we have an 80th bday party for my gramps, with the whole family coming along. I think during the day most of the family is going to the Big E (Eastern States Exposition. It's a ginormous festival for a few weeks)

Sunday we're going apple picking with some friends. That should be fun, and I'll at least be stocked up on apples for a bit.

  • Happy Friday!  My mom made it here this morning (woohoo!!) so I'll be spending the weekend catching up with her and taking her around to some places.  She's been here before, so no need to do the standard touristy things, but I do have to figure something interesting out.  We may head to one of the castles out of town if it's nice.  And we'll be going to see The Girl Who Played With Fire tomorrow night.  And I'll have to find some time this evening to catch up on Grey's!

As much as I'd like to say I'll get some exercise in, I don't see that happening.

    Have a good weekend all.

  • Today I have a lot of stuff to do. I have to work on my explorer, head to the grocery store, drop Gib off at school then pick him up. I need to finish cleaning my house and pack for the weekend. Then I head out to see my parents and help them set up for their anniversary celebration. Tomorrow is their party and Sunday I'm heading back home.

    Have a good weekend everyone.

Oh, that sounds like a good idea. :) I'll send you a PM.

  • Yay, Friday! I've been off on my days this week and yesterday felt like Friday, so I'm glad it's finally here.

I'm working tonight til abou ten, then we are having friends over to watch Clash of the Titans. We don't have any other plans for the weekend, other than having the last bbq of the season (outside) at MIL and FIL's place, for her birthday. I'm going to make a big cake!

  • We have the farmer's market tomorrow morning, but nothing else the rest of the weekend. I'm very excited to have a low key weekend. I'm hoping to get in a few workouts, clean my house, and watch a lot of football. I think we're having friends over for Monday night football, so I'm hoping to figure out what I want to cook for that. Any suggestions?
  • Yay for Friday!!

I'm hoping for a fun weekend since the last two were bad due to the rain. Tonight I'm just planning of relaxing watching a movie. Tomorrow I have the gig in the church for a 15th birthday. Then at night we plan to go out with some friends down to the bar. Sunday off to church an visit some family.

  • Ooh susi and reba, the Book Festival sounds great!  Susi, have you read Freedom yet?  I just picked it up last night, and I loved The Corrections so I'm excited.

As for my weekend, it's pretty busy.  We are leaving for our trip to Greece and Turkey on Monday night, so I have a lot of errands, laundry, and packing to do.  Also, getting my hair and nails done Saturday, plus going to an art show in which my FIL won a prize, and dinner with the ILs Saturday night.  Ugh, getting stressed just thinking of everything!

  • Woot woot! Friday is finally here! This has been a long week.

I don't have much going on this weekend.. I think I'm going to go shopping after work today to try to find some jeans that fit. I might be depressed after that! Tonight I'm probably just going to hang out at home... DH won't get home until 11:00 tonight and my daughters are going with their dad for the weekend so I will have the house to myself. I plan on putting on jammie pants and snuggling with my cats.

Tomorrow I think the weather is supposed to be decent so we're going to clean up the yard and put all our summer chairs and stuff away. I'm supposed to go out with some friends tomorrow night, but I'm still deciding if I want to go. I haven't been out forever so it would be nice, but I hate all the work that goes into it.. finding something to wear, getting ready, finding a DD or figuring out a ride, etc. Plus I'm scared of accidentally over-doing it with the drinking and I don't want to be hungover on Sunday.

Sunday we have to pick up the girls from their dad's house, then probably do grocery shopping and laundry. I also really want to go look at Halloween costumes so maybe we'll make it to the party store.

    Have a great weekend everyone!

  • Yay for Friday and the weekend!

No plans for today. Manuel has softball so I'll stay home and watch tv or read a book. This modified bed rest is for the birds, and certainly not for me.

Saturday, we are going out for a nice dinner to a yet undetermined place since we couldn't go to Denver this weekend after all.

Sunday, just more resting. I have an exciting weekend in store.

Haven't read it yet -- the H is still going through it. He says he's enjoying it, but that it's pretty depressing. Once he's done I'll pick it up. :)

Did you read about the whole Weiner/Picoult dust-up over Freedom?  I kind of side-eyed it because they're not exactly writing in the same genres.

  • I'm really surprised I made it to Friday. Work has been hell this week. I'm not sure the new job I got is a good fit. :(

It's supposed to be nice tomorrow, so we'll do our grocery shopping and then possibly clean up the yard/garden.

Sunday is supposed to rainy, so we stacked our Netflix so we have good movies coming in.

I see lots of red wine and relaxing with Aaron this weekend, which is exactly what I need after this week.

Yeah, I did hear a bit about that.  I agree, I think it's pretty silly for those authors in particular to be in a snit about it.  There is just no comparing their work to the depth and complexity of Franzen's.  Like you said, it's not at all the same genre, not as if they are also writing character/psyche-exploring type books.  That doesnt mean that their books aren't enjoyable or aren't well-written - they are both bestsellers, so clearly they have won over many fans.  But it's like getting upset that Keeping Up with the Kardashians isn't nominated for an Emmy.  I find the show entertaining, but it's certainlynot the type ofshow that would be winning an award.

Now whether it is the case that male authors seem to be taken more seriously than women authors in general is a concept that seems worthy of exploration - but chick lit is outside  the realm of that conversation, in my opinion.  And no one is saying Picoult isn't capable of writing a great modern classic...but that's just not what she writes.

  • Happy Friday!

I only had to work until noon today, yay! I'm going to spend the afternoon working on the house.

Tomorrow we're going to a BBQ at our friends house.

Sunday's my birthday! We're having my family over for tacos and margaritas. Can't wait!

  • I need to get on the August cooks blog.  And I need to learn how to do more with butternut squash than just steam and puree.  And I want to learn how to cook spaghetti squash, since I've never had it and I'm intrigued.  So much to do . . .

We're going to Lee's Mom's to pick up a car that she's selling to us.  She got a new one, and offered us the old one for a very reasonable price, and since my daughter totaled my car last month we're down a car.  It's perfect, and we get to see her for an extra visit this year too.

  • I woke up this morning and thought it was Monday and I had missed the weekend...worst way to wake up.  Ugh.

Tomorrow I am running in the morning (hopefully 10 miles), then hanging out for the day being lazy while DH golfs.  Then a friend is coming for the night and I am making pizza pot pie and this week's cookies.  Sunday we are going to see another friend in a 50 mile run, which is insane and should be fun.

  • Ugh, thank goodness it's Friday.  I couldn't wait for this week to end.  I didn't have too many shifts at the hospital this week so I picked up 3 shifts at the Shoppers I used to work at 3 years ago.

We just got back from Boston Pizza.  I'm grumpy and I think H and I aren't talking now.

Tomorrow I have and 11 or 12 mile run planned, we need to go for groceries  and I plan on making a nice dinner.  After that we have church and then we're going to a friends for UFC.

Sunday I'm hoping to get to the gym and then just hang around the house.  I do need to go shopping for new running shows, though.
