Well I'm still waiting to go on my honeymoon and I know everyone posted little blips when they got back from theirs but I want one post where everyone can share where they went and what they loved about it! (Basically I want something to look forward to as I still have a while to go!)
Re: Honeymoon Reviews!
I had an amazing time in Jamaica, we went to Montego Bay and stayed at the Sandals Resort there. The people, food, beach was absolutely wonderful and I'm still having withdrawals from having to leave
We stayed at the Sandals resort for 4 days and the remaining 2 days we stayed at the Hilton Resort. I enjoyed Sandals better because it was all inclusive and we were also able to shuttle over to the other Sandals resorts in the area. We are already planning our trip back next year for our anniversary. I highly recommend a Sandals resort one day. Enjoy your upcoming honeymoon cruise.
DH and I are sea people, not tropical island people. We went to Hilton Head Island, SC and loved it. We stayed at the Sea Pines Resort which takes up half the island.
We decided to honeymoon in the States for money reasons and, I hate to say, for political reasons. We love the East Coast, we had both been to Myrtle Beach, VA Beach was too far, and FL, though I
it, was 'oiled' out. So we decided between Tybee Island, GA and HHI.
I'm so glad we went to HHI. It was relaxing and we never left the resort. We ate lunch and dinner at a few tourist traps (Salty Dog Cafe), but we love them. There was a Harris Teeter inside the resort and we got food items for breakfasts.
Our entire honeymoon consisted of waking up mid morning, taking a walk on the beach, enjoying all the 'nautical-ness', packing up to head to the shore and stayed there until dinner. We also took a few nature tours on bicycles, strolled around the harbor, bought souvenirs, and went to late night outdoor concerts and the open air bars.
There was nothing bad at all about the resort, but the first day we were there, DH and I went for a long walk on the beach and ended up getting lost. We thought our resort's beach gate was a lot closer than it was, so we had to keep walking and walking. I ended up badly spraining both my feet and couldn't hardly walk for the rest of the time down there.
Do the creep.
We went on an Alaskan cruise for a week. Alaska was the most beautiful place I have been in my life! It was wonderful being on a cruise and it wasn't filled with drunk college kids since it wasn't a tropic destination (We were the only young drunk people! haha jk).
The weather was perfect, mid 60s and no humidity. We are already planning to go back at least one more time in our lives!
Ooh! What a great post!
We went to Costa Rica for 9 days. It was absolutely incredible. The first night we were there we stayed in a great hotel in San Jose. They had the best breakfast and coffee! From there we took a tiny domestic flight (seriously, there were 2 other passengers on the flight!) to the North West Coast to our all inclusive resort. We had upgraded to Royal Service, which was a wonderful idea! We didn't spend much time by the beach, because the Royal service pool was amazing and there were no kids! We were there for 4 nights. The food was amazing and plentiful.
We took a half day ATV/ ziplining tour. It ended up being a private tour because it was the low season. We rode ATVs on the beach for an hour to the ziplining site, rode the ziplines and hiked for 2 hours, and then rode the ATVs back. We had a blast!
From the resort, we were driven about 5 hours away to our next hotel. It was a beautiful small resort (16 suites) in the cloud forest. We were about 6000 feet in elevation. It rained every afternoon and evening there, but it didn't matter. It was beautiful. Three local and organic meals a day were included and we were treated by royalty! We had a hot tub on our private front porch which was great. The turn down service there was wonderful! Two of the nights there, they set up a special table by the fireplace for dinner because they knew we were on our honeymoon.
On our last full day in Costa Rica, we went on another private tour to the Arenal volcano. We drove around to some scenic spots and then we got to spend the afternoon at the Tabacon hot springs. It was wonderful!
Overall, the honeymoon was the trip of a lifetime and we had an incredible time!
We had a low key HM, because we had a destination wedding in Lake Tahoe. We went to Las Vegas and stayed at Trump, where we told them it was our HM. They upgraded us to the bridal suite which was the most gorgeous room I have ever been in. This was awesome because I had booked our original room on Priceline for $70.00 a night and the suite we got runs for about $1500 a night! In Vegas we saw Phantom of the Opera which was great and ate at Mesa Grill (Bobby Flay's restaurant). Overall we had an amazing time just wished it would have been longer.
My advice for your upcoming HM is tell everyone its your HM... We got lots of great things because of that. Use it, you only get one HM!
That sounds fabulous!!!! DH and I are still planning our HM! We hope to go to the Caribbean in November!
Haha, HHI is my favorite place and Tybee Island is DH's. We went a lot when I was a kid and for my high school graduation my whole family rented a house for a week and it was so much fun. We're trying to plan another whole family vaycay to take my grandfather while he's still able to travel.
DH and I had two minimoons, but our real HM is a cruise in January. We spent our wedding night/night after at a B&B in Lake Geneva, WI which was very very relaxing. Our room had a really nice whirlpool tub where we spent most of our time. I have very fond memories of the breakfast delivered to our door the morning after the wedding and those perfect warm croissants.
Our second minimoon was a quick trip to Las Vegas. DH went to Vegas for his bachelor party, played poker at the Palazzo, and started getting players club deals for a complimentary stay in August so we took advantage. They have the most amazing spa and one of the GM bought us a couple's massage as a wedding gift, plus we got an additional spa credit with the player's club deals. I remember how excited I got when everyone there was calling me Mrs. Hislastname! We were too tired to fully enjoy Vegas, but it was still so much fun and we're hoping to go back around the same time next year.
We went up the Oregon coast, staying in an awesome jacuzzi suite on the Lincoln City beach, and then a beach house in Manzanita.
We cooked awesome food and drank expensive wine out of our new flutes the whole time. We made fondue out of our new fondue pot and grilled on our new grill
We did lots of long beach walks, rock hunting, and a few short hikes, it was beautiful weather, which is rare on the Oregon beach, it was such a blessing. I think it was the most relaxing time of my whole life, we were so isolated, just us.
I have pics in my bio: http://grassgreenlove.weebly.com
Our HM was to Vegas. We stayed at the MGM grand and got a free room upgrade as our room wasn't ready yet at arrival. We saw a cirque du solei show..which we love, went to the price is right show (not the tv show..an imitation with real prizes), and a few free shows. We had fun but I was sick..and the vacation was a day too long...we stayed for 5 nights...last time we went was for 4...and we felt like 4 nights was much better...
We'd love to do a romantic type trip to somewhere sometime in the next year..so we'll see!
