**ahem**

Soooooo..... I used to do a lot of drugs in high school which made me fit in with just about every clique.  I hung out with the hippie pothead/acid droppers, the wannabe thugs who smoked blunts in the parking lot.... the punk rock kids (well, we did just about everything)... the party kids who took x, the preppy kids who were popping pills from their parents' medicine cabinets.  I did just about anything that didn't involve a needle or that wasn't crack.  This was how I was the perfect fit for every crowd in school.  I did it because I liked it.

I graduated in the top 20 in my HS class with an advanced diploma and was pretty effing smart, despite all the crap I did.

College rolls around and I became addicted to meth... 3 years hooked on that sh!t and one day I decided I was done with all of it and quit everything.  I've been clean for over 4 years.  I'm not proud of what I've done, but it's made me into the person I am today.

So now here I am with a college degree, a good job, and a pretty damn good life.  I'm not embarrassed and I'm almost relieved that you guys know this about me now.

I'm DDing probably by the end of tonight.

Re: **ahem**

  • Thanks for sharing that part of your life. I'm proud of you for doing so well and overcoming it. Good for you!!

  • Thank you for not being judgey!!!
  • Congrats on your sobriety! my BIL has dealt with addiction for the past 5 years and is finally sober and I know he still struggles; its not an easy road.

  • rofl, the second i hit "post" i realized. I took that part out...I'm home alone and have been downing a bottle of wine tonight. Forgive my stupidity.

  • haha.  i forgive you!
  • WOWIE! Good for you!

  • I know that what I did in the past was illegal and wrong, so please yall, don't judge me!!  I've learned from my past.  I just hope that you guys don't think anythng differently of me now that you know what I've been through
  • While I'm on the whole confession train... HH is the best thing that's ever happened to me.  Going through withdrawals while trying to finish a degree... I didn't want to get out of bed.  He basically booted me out of bed every day to go to class.  I probably wouldn't have finished without him
  • I am SHOCKED.  SHOCKED I tell you.  I don't think we can be friends anymore.

hahaha just kidding...that is a pretty incredible story and I'm proud of you for quitting!  Up until your college years I was thinking ok, ok...I know tons of people who did that stuff...but meth is pretty serious.  I don't know anyone personally who did that!  So good for you for getting out of it.

Now.  In all seriousness - that's what Caitlyn's mom (from Teen Mom) is on, isn't it?

I haven't watched the latest season of Teen Mom, but yeah she was probably on meth.  At least I got out before my teeth got messed up.  Crap, I'm in the same category as they are, aren't I??  Fuuck.  I haven't gotten emotional over this in a while.... here I go
  • Oh god! Don't get emotional because of me. I was trying to lighten the mood which was obviously a spectacular fail. You have a degree! A good job! A wonderful husband! A house! Great friends! And you weren't a teen mom! I love you.

  • I was thinking about you in the shower (um.....weird alert....but seriously I had just read this post and then I hopped in the shower) and I remembered that I saw an episode about meth on Oprah one time.  All I remember is that they talked about how disgusting it makes your teeth and I wanted to vomit when they showed pictures or video or something.  So I decided to be all up in your business and ask you about your teeth.  They weren't affected at all.....after 3 years of it??

  • So here I was thinking this was a newbie.  Then I realized who it was.  Honestly, I already thought you were awesome, but now even more so.  It takes a pretty strong person to do what you've done and turn your life around like that.

Goodness, no! I think I have even more respect for you now. It takes a really smart person to recognize that they're on a path that's not going to a good place. It takes a really strong person (with, as you said, a good support system) to get off of that path and stay clean. That's freaking fantastic!

  • It takes a very strong person to walk away from all of that. And what an amazing HH to help you through!

I just got a chance to read through this and was thinking the exact same thing because I hadn't caught up on the board yet.

That said, you are amazing in your resolve and discipline to walk away from that world and be where you are today. Congratulations and remember that you are who you are today because of all the stuff before today. So, although you should let it go, don't ever forget it and embrace your life as it is today and all your tomorrows. Cuz you worked really hard for them all and you deserve it  kiddo!

    MEEEE TOOOOO! Hahahaha!

But as everyone has said, it takes an AMAZINGLY strong person to do what you have done and turn it all around.  I really admire your strength.  And you obviously have an awesome husband that loves you very much.

PS... Way to go J!!! FAIL! =D

  • you're a very strong person for owning up to mistakes you have made in the past.... bravo for doing so! I'm so glad you have the love and support from your HH and a great life in general! Congrats on your sobriety!!!
  • I'm super late, but I wanted to add in that you are so lucky that you were able to walk away when you did. I come from a family of addicts, so I know how hard it can be and how it can ruin lives... it takes a lot to quit.

Not affected AT ALL!!!  I took VERY good care of my teeth.  Still did regular dental visits, brushed my teeth constantly because I'd seen what it does to other people.  Plus, I wasn't doing bathtub stuff... The stuff I got was of very high quality so it was more "pure" I guess.
  • Anyway, ladies... I just wanted to say thank you for all of your love and support and kind words.  It was a pain in the ass getting off the stuff, but I'm a much better person because of it.  Signing off now!!!  Thank you again for not judging!!!
