Hard Water Ring in Toilet...HELP
I have never had hard water until this house. Our toilets have a permanent ring at the top of the water line. I went to buy my favorite cleaning supply that I used at an old job. Apparently they have changed the formula and it is no longer a gel, it is a liquid which does not remove the stain. Any ideas? TIA
ps never try oxi clean, DH tried it and it solidifies in pipes immediately and was a pain to get out

Add 1/4 gallon of white vinegar to the bowl and let sit for 1 hr. Then scrub with a soft toilet brush. (you can buy white vinegar by the gallon at most grocery stores)
If the above does not work, make a paste with baking soda and white vinegar and scrub with a soft toilet brush.
And if that doesn't work, go to home depot (or hardware store) and buy a piece of extra soft steel wool. Use the steel wool as your scrub brush (go gently because it can scratch the porcelain if you scrub too hard). My parents have hard water and when they had a toilet replaced, the plumber suggested soft steel wool to clean the hard water stains.

Ditto. I worked at a camp for years that had the worst hard water stains I've ever seen, the water turned the toilets red within days of cleaning. The Works was the the ONLY thing that removed the hard water stains.
CLR and Lime Away are ok products also.
