I am seriously considering getting laser eye surgery, but have heard mixed reviews on the LasikPlus Center in Kenwood. I've heard great reviews, but also poor reviews (which makes me so nervous).
Another friend of mine got hers done at TLC Vision in Salt Lake City (also Tiger Woods got his done at TLC as well). TLC Vision is a nationwide chain. I am contemplating going up there as well, but haven't heard from enough people about this center.
Your thoughts?
I have pretty bad eyesight (-7.00 and -6.50 in contacts) but I am a candidate for laser eye surgery. I am so tired of wearing glasses when I work out (which is 3-4x/week). They fall down or off and I'm so tired of it.
Re: Lasik eye surgery- Lasik Plus (Kenwood) or TLC Vision (Columbus)?
DH had lasik done about a month before we met. He swears it was the best decision he ever made. I think he had his done at the place in Kenwood.
He had dryness for the first year or so, but they gave him drops for it. He hasn't needed them in a few years.
I was going to do it before our wedding. The Lasik Plus in Dayton said I was good to go. For some reason I also did a consult at the one in Cincy & they told me that I was not a candidate for any procedure b/c I have thin wavy lenses (or corneas or something) and any procedure would ruin my vision. So even though I didn't do it I think it's really good they were honest with me-although that did really make me wonder why the Dayton location didn't pick up on my problem!!
Have you looked at Midwest Eye Center? I was going to do a consult with them but didn't once I got the news from Lasik Plus. I did go to them for an exam once or twice.
My mom had her eyes done in 1992 or 93 by a doctor in Mt. Airy on Colerain (but not Midwest). This was back when they used an actual scalpel and her vision was great after. It might have been Dr. Amend. I know that my sister has gone there a few times for ulcers and I think they treat my dad's macular degeneration. I think I did a consult with Dr. Amend as well, can't remember for sure. Given my family's vision issues it's probably best that I just live with glasses!
I had mine done at Lasik Plus in Dayton. Also 3 of my friends have gone there to get theirs done as well. One friend is a cop and had to get maced in the eyes a few days later. While I think it was the dumbest thing he has every done, he still has perfect vision.
I had pretty bad vision too and astigmatism. I saw perfectly immediately after surgery although my eyes were pretty watery. I slept that night off and the next day I was good to go. I had mine done in 2005. They were the cheapest and I had reccomendations from a few people who had went there. I was also fortunate to be able to have 18 months 0% financing which helped me in my decision. Best investement ever!
I will also reccomend Stahl Vision in Dayton. I have heard great things about there and one of my closest friends had hers done there and she had a pretty complicated case. Stahl also has vision seminars that are free to the public if you check their website. GL!
