1st anniversary

So DH and my 1st anniversary is coming up in two weeks.  I want to get him something, but I have no idea what to get, especially since we're low on funds until we get these bills paid off come December (my car is paid off then.. YAY!).  I do want to get him at least something, even if it is a little something.  We're planning on going out to dinner, might try some place we've never been to before (if anyone has ideas please let me know - we can do anything from Greensboro to Raleigh).

A little info on DH - works construction building houses, is always attached to his iPhone, plays guitar and mandolin, just started working out and enjoys tormenting our cats.

TIA!

Re: 1st anniversary

  • 1st anniversary is paper.  You could get him tickets to an event he enjoys or maybe frame a wedding picture.  A gift card would work for the iPhone or if since he is working out maybe some workout gear?

I did do a little gag on DH for our 1st - I have him a roll of toilet paper with a note saying "Thank you for putting up with my sh*t"  I got that from someone on the Nest - just cant remember who it was.

  • For our 1st anny, DH got me a framed print of my favorite picture from our wedding and I got him tickets to a Panthers game. Since he plays guitar, how about a new songbook? That would count as paper. GL!
  • Magazine subscription is a good paper gift.

As for restaurants we like the Quaintance-Weaver restaurants (Lucky32, Print Works, GVG).

Those are really good ideas Curbside!

  • Everyone is correct. The 1st anniversary IS the "paper anniversary". I'm creating my husband a "coupon booklet" with coupons good for things like "get out of dishes free", "full body sensual massage", and "one hour of extra sleep". I'm also having a lingerie photo shoot done and having a photo book made from the photos. If I had to guess at what he's getting me, I would say it'll be tickets to something: concert, musical, ballet, or Panthers game. Another good idea is to make him a calendar, and each month put a picture of your first year together. Good luck!

I actually just asked him last night if he'd be interested in going to GVG.  I've only been there once, and only ate an appetizer, so I'm looking forward to it!  I know a couple people (through friends) that work in the O'H, so hopefully we can get something special set up!

I also think I have his gift figured out.  He recently has been looking up a couple Barenaked Ladies' guitar tabs, so I'm going to get him the guitar songbook !  I'm excited... he said he knows what he's getting me.  I'll keep you updated!
