I am exhausted!!! I have two little ones (4 and 1) a husband who is very unorganized and we are just in all a busy family. Each night I spend at least 1-2 hours cleaning just to get things picked up, kitchen someone presentable, etc. However whenever I do clean it seems that everything is in disarray within a few hours! Is there a way I can be more organized without going insane?
Re: Can't keep up!!!
Enlist your family to help- tell your DH that it's creating work for you when he lets his stuff get out of hand, and that you'd rather spend some of that time with him instead of cleaning. And ask him do some of the cleaning as well- kitchen, bathrooms, vacuuming, etc, for the same reason. Have your kids help pick up- 4 is definitely old enough to put toys, crafts, dirty clothes, etc. away, and 1 is old enough to start doing these things as well, especially with an older sibling to mimic.
And finally, assuming there's not a health risk, it's okay for the house to not be perfect if it's taking away a lot of time with your family.
Ditto the pposters.
Also, get rid of anything unneccessary/outgrown/not used. You make think you don't have much that needs to go, but once you get started, you'll find tons of stuff for the donation pile. Start with one cupboard or closet and see what happens.
Also how is the organization? That's one thing that has helped me. Don't make it complicated either. Blocks in one basket, color books in another. That way your kids can put toys away on their own.
Finally, clean as you go. At first I thought that was futile (I like everything clean all at once) but it's the only way I get everything done. Dust the room your kids are playing in. Wipe down the bathrooms as your giving kids a bath. Do dishes as you make dinner. Every room won't be spotless all of the time but it will be presentable and meh...life happens. People live in their houses.
Really though, as long as your house isn't a health concern/major disaster. Let it go. Kids remember Moms who read them stories and played, not scrubbed floors.
