thoughts on air purifiers?
do they really help take smells out of the air?

Tea Time for Lulu
I guess your WAS working if it got super dirty!
When I ran ours, I never had to dust either.
We have an Austin Air Healthmate. I closed it into our bedroom for a whole day (to keep the dog out) and when I opened the door, it smelled so fresh and clean in there. That is saying a lot, b/c the sheets needed to be washed, etc. The con online is always about the noise. I don't mind the hum. They recommend putting it in your bedroom since you breathe in that air most.
We have a cat and a dog. I don't know if there is less fur flying around or if I just want there to be (I had to fight to get this, so I wanted it to be an awesome purchase).
