Visiting Atlanta for work, but a little free time

I am going to be in Atlanta this Friday through Wednesday for work (staying near the Georgia World Congress Center).  It looks like I will have some free time (all day Sunday!), as well as most evenings free.  Any suggestions of what to do/see on Sunday, as well as some good restaurants for dinner?

And any other input on the area that I am staying?...

  • I will definitely scope out your reviews - thanks!

Side note: Does anyone know of good lunch places very close to the Georgia World Congress Center?  I will be stuck there for lunch for quite a few days before the event starts, so the food options in the congress center are going to be closed.  Just trying to find good sandwich/soup/salad places near by.

here's a map of your area:

heading east from the GWCC toward the Hard Rock cafe (you'll see if on the far right of the map) in that vicinitity is a lot of small sit-down restaurants and a tiny "mall" - its mostly just a food court. Its called Peachtree Center. You'll find a few places along Peachtree Street that will have the kind of dining you're looking for. A lot of the hotels have restaurants - the Westin is very nice as is the Ritz's but look in the SunTrust tower as well as CNN (very cose to the GWCC) for food-court like options. Ask your concierge for rec's too!

  • Oh good - it sounds like I will have some quick lunch options while I am there.  If you guys have any other places to check out/things to do, let me know!
