IUD Placement Check
I'm having an IUD placement check via ultrasound and am wondering if they do an external or vaginal ultrasound to check for placement. Anyone have experience with this?

I just had my IUD placement check last Wednesday and my doctor didn't do an ultrasound, she just did a pelvic exam (did my 1 year check at the same time). She said she could see everything was perfectly placed. Sorry that doesn't help much I guess.
How long have you had yours? I've had mine for 6 weeks. Have you had any side effects? I had a heavier, longer period with strong cramps, but nothing too bad.
Thanks for the response. My clinic does an ultrasound to check. I think I've probably had mine for six weeks or so. I have the Paraguard. I haven't had cramping but I've noticed my periods have been a bit longer and heavier. So far the benefits are worth it!
