So we picked her up on Friday afternoon at the vet, and she was so much better than when we dropped her off that morning. We believe she had a home at one point since she is spayed, but it doesn't appear to have been for a while due to the mats they had to cut out of her.
She is wicked friendly, and was purring in my arms within a minute of me picking her up. We brought her back to my parent's house, where she hid under my mom's dresser until my H got there and we moved it to get her out. She stayed at their place on Friday night, and kept my parents awake the whole time talking and wanting attention.
We went out and bought stuff on Saturday, after H made me put up a posting on Craigslist about her. So far no one has responded. We hung out at my parent's on Sat. night, and my allergies went bazerk. I had to take benadryl and was so out of it just from picking her up a couple times and then washing my hands. We brought her home and kept her in our second bathroom with her litter box, food, water and the carrier with a towel in it that night. Yesterday, every time she was brave enough to venture out of the bathroom, our dog Tiki would get excited and chase her right back in. I had to take more benadryl last night, and my inhaler.
It makes me sad to say that I don't think we can keep her based on my allergies. She's so sweet and last night she hung out on the couch with H and I while we watched the tv. We're going to try to see if we can find her a home with friends of ours, and if not, we're going to talk to the woman who owns the daycare we bring Tiki to. She takes in fosters for dogs and has horses and cats, and even if she can't take her, we know she can help us find her a good home that will love her. I can't post any pictures right now, but will try to tonight when I get home.
Re: Kitty Update
before you write her off b/c of your allergies, do the following.
1) brush her fur like crazy with a good cat brush from the pet store (with the metal teeth things...no it wont hurt her). and throw away all the fur that comes out.
2) as much as she's going to hate it, give her a bath. im sure she hasnt been into the most allergy-friendly things. you can get cat shampoo at the pet store, and they even have waterless shampoo you can use if you cant get her into the sink of something (which is a two person job).
i have HORRIBLE allergies to cats and dogs and my allergies are fine with my cat now because i brush her every single day and give her a bath about every other week. i swear, it works.

I'll definitely try that out first. I've been getting allergy shots for the past year and will be continuing to get them for the next 3-4 in order to control my seasonal and pet allergies. Luckily, I've never had issues with dogs, but cats have always given me problems since I was in elementary school. I didn't even know I had allergy induced asthma until I went away to college because I had been living with two cats and was used to feeling horrible all the time. I came home and almost had to go to the ER because I couldn't breathe at all. I was hoping the shots would help, but apparently they haven't helped that much since I started having an attack about 15 minutes after I got to my parent's the other night.
I won't try giving her a bath without Andrew there, especially since she's got claws. Tiki gives me enough trouble in the tub and she can't scratch like a cat can.
Just have to say I'm almost scared to go home to see how the first day with the two of them alone in the apartment went. And Andrew is gone for work for the week, again, so I'm alone with the craziness all week.
