I saw that you are finished with your Wilton class...
How did you like it?
Are you planning on taking more?
Do you have any pictures of the stuff you did!?!?
I'm nosy. =D Or just interested in your future! However you want to look at it! HAHAH!
This is the cake I did this weekend...

Re: **goldgold**
Super cute cake! The class was fun and I signed up for the next level. The classes felt a bit rushed (ie. we didn't have much time to finish our cakes, etc in class because we were learning the techniques), but it was still good. The 3rd level is fondant, which I definitely want to try!
Here's my last cake. My design wasn't planned and DH chose the colours. I had wanted to do roses, but I used a different recipe for the last class and it was too thin. As I said, it was rushed, but I think it's not too shabby.
As far as school (because I asked you before), I've decided to go back and get a BFA in graphic design. Last week and this week I'm touring schools to decide where to apply. I decided I would have a better income immediately and have more options of how I use the degree this way. I could always combine the two at some point
Buttercream roses are the BANE OF MY EXISTENCE!!!! I absolutely hate them. You have to get the icing PERFECT and this is especially a pain for me because I despise American Buttercream and so I don't make it very often. I use Italian Meringue Buttercream and it's way too soft but tastes sooooo much better.
Fondant is a LOT of fun. And you can do so much with it. I prefer to work with it (plus I can charge more!! =D)
I can understand that the class seems rushed. Our classes in school were 5 hours and there were days where it seemed like you never had enough time. I hope you stay with it though! It's super fun. And you'll only get better and better! And then you get to show off to your family and friends!
Like a mentioned before... any kind of arts degree will always work in your favor if you ever want to get a job in a specialty/custom cake bakery. They LOVE artists!
My instructor was pretty good. She gave us some personal tips and tricks. The problem was she would give us too much time to try each technique. We'd end up with zero time at the end to utilize them for our cup/cakes. It just feels nice to have a "hobby" and get out to do something different right now. I was always a artsy/crafty person, but lost touch with that over the years.
