QOTD

How many hours of work do you actually get done in a typical work day?

Re: QOTD

  • Haha! I literally sit at my desk right now and surf the web for almost all 8 hours. My job is a freakin joke at the moment. We have 2 very eager people working in the office with us, and they like to do all of the hands on garbage I used to hate. I will be working this weekend, though, and that will be an all day event I think. Luckily, it's homecoming, so I'll see some old faces on campus for a bit. I hate my job.

  • Depends, my job has some lag time with waiting for approvals sometimes I'm slammed sometimes I'm cleaning my desk. It's a weird job.

  • The job I have now would have been ideal for when we were wedding planning.

I try to create work, just to have something to do.

  • I would say about 5 or 6. It depends on what's on my to-do list for the day, how much I can push to the following day, and how productive I want to be. I think if I cared about my job it would be more like 7.

  • I physically teach about 4.5 hours a day (4-5 periods out of 6), then get 1-2x 50 minutes of prep each day (so I can do all the photocopying, organizational stuff I need) and have an hour off for lunch.

Then there's all the extra help I do after school. Mostly, I'm pretty busy all day long.

  • All 10 hours :)  My job is go, go, go. Sometimes I don't have enough time do what I need to do.

  •  I work 7 hours and 40 minutes with a 20 minute break for lunch...and bathroom if I'm lucky Stick out tongue

I get to school at 7 and get everything I didn't do the day before prepped for the day, check my email and phone messages, and check in with my team teachers.  Sometimes I have a morning meeting.  Kids start at 7:40, I teach until 9:30, have a 45 minute team meeting or a prep period, teach another hour and forty-five minutes, have a twenty minute lunch break, cover silent reading for 20 minutes, have 45 minutes of prep or study hall proctoring, then teach another hour.  Kids leave at 2:30 and I have 30 minutes at the end of the day to prep for the next day before I can go home at 3.

That said, unless I have a meeting at 3, I also leave school every day between 3 and 3:30 and I don't take work home with me...so I use basically every minute I have available so that I can keep home and school separate.

  • In an 8 hour shift, I get half an hour for lunch and I work my butt off the other 7.5 hours.  I would want someone to give the same level of care to any of my hospitalized loved ones.
