He has always had a love affair with tissues since the day we got him. But it always seemed to be only used tissues that he would steal if he found them. We're lucky that he really only got to them at those times, and we are really good about making sure we throw them away promptly.
Until last night. DH and I were in the livingroom with my parents watching TV. I could hear the dogs collar jingling and it sounded far off. We called for him and he didn't come, sign he was into something he shouldn't be. So DH got up to go see what he was up to.
DH walks into our room and catches the dog in the act of pulling a tissue out of the box, that was on the desk in our room about 3ft. away from the bed. Yup he figured out where those tastey morsals were coming from and decided that if people weren't leaving them for him to find, he was going to go get his own.
My dog is getting too smart for his own good!
Re: My dog...
That is pretty funny..
Our Jack Russell Terrier "Maggie" LOVES toilet paper and has been known to unravel entire rolls in our downstairs bathroom.. In our upstairs bathroom the roll can be slid off and she has figured out how to do it.. She is soo proud of herself when she does and brings the roll to us wagging her tail as if to say "Look Mommy, I brought you a treat.. Doesn't this roll of TP look goo enough to eat" She cracks us up.. We have to make sure all bathroom doors are closed at all times.

I can relate to the paper thing, but thankfully Sadie has never really been into tissues.
I'm so happy she's past the TP loving stage.

Unfortunately we haven't really worked with him on not getting the tissues. We have always made sure the garbage is either in a covered can or in the bathrooms we keep them on top of the toilet. He has never been that desparate that he will knock the can off to get to them.
We have trained him to drop it or let it go if we catch him. That came after many times of chasing him and by the time we got him, he would have swallowed it whole(we're lucky he never had any kind of blockage from this). We have a "Knock-it-off" command that we use for him to basically stop whatever he is doing, even if it is something other times we might let him do. So he'll listen and stop chewing and then we'll tell him to drop whatever is in his mouth, and he does really well with this with tissues or whatever else he found floating on the floor.

My pup will steal tampons out of the box, unwrap them, get the cotton bit out of the applicator, and walk around with a tampon string hanging out his mouth.
Luckily, he only likes unused tampons.

Yeah, luckily...
Rex likes to dig stuff out of the trash (barf)
Our cocker spaniel growing up did this too. Niiiiice.
His other love is digging stuff out of the compost in the backyard. We've made sure we try to turn it at least every other day if we are putting a lot in there so that the stuff on top doesn't attract him to get into it (it's a tall round fenced in area, but if it's full he can grab stuff off the top).
He got in there at the peak of tomato time when we threw the tomatos that had gone bad in there.. yeah rotten tomato smell on a dog is NOT FUN. that was bath time at 10pm one time after he got into that.
