i feel like I am living in a dorm!!
I've lived in apartments for the past 10 years, and none of them were as loud as this condo! We think the guy next door must have gotten surround sound within the past 6 months. We have had reason to complain at least once a week, but usually we are already in PJs! And we do complain at least every other week. It's 9:30 now, and I can hear their TV above mine. So much for 3 foot thick solid concrete walls. Can't wait til we are in a house!!

I completely understand. The neighbors next to us in our apt. building are LOUD. First off, I think there are like 8 people living in the apartment, because several people come and go all day long. They SLAM the door everytime they go in or out. It is always hard enough it rattles everyone of our windows. And they like to hang stuff up at wierd hours. There are time at like 5 in the morning or 1130 at night that we hear them making noises that sound like hammering.
I wish we were in a house too!
ugh im so happy we bought a house this past winter. because i HATED living near people. to live in a dorm of noisy noisy girls for 4 years and then move into an apartment that was equally noisy with paper thin walls AND floors, totally sucked.
what was worse, is that one of our neighbors smoked pot all day long every day and the whole damn building smelled like it. it was so gross.

omg i am so happy we are finally in a house and not connected to anyone in our old apartment.
we had the same problems with loud neighbors all around us, sounds at all hours, and to top it off the guy above us poured scalding hot FIRE OIL ON OUR BALCONY. he was cooking and it caught on fire so he thought going out to the balcony and pouring it onto ours below his would be the best idea. everything on our balcony caught on fire, the fire department came, etc.
UGH.
he finally moved out, but then the new guy who moved in above us CUTS PEOPLE'S HAIR ON HIS BALCONY AND SWEEPS THE HAIR OFF SO IT WOULD LAND ON OURS AND THE GROUND BELOW. sick.
how can people be so rude?!?!?!?!?!
could not be happier to be in a house.

agreed! my DH and I CAN"T WAIT to get out of our apartment. Our neighbors are party animals, we are getting ready to leave for work (6am) and they will still be partying strong out on their balcony. ugh. the other neighbor is up all night playing World of Warcraft and screaming and keeps about 10-20 lighted candles on his balcony (great idea right???). he asked DH last week at 6am if he wanted a cappuccino with whisky in it (um, no thanks, he has to go to work in an hour)
it will also be nice when the dog wants to go outside that we can just kick her out the back door, not put a leash on, go down stairs, walk around the building, then freeze our butts off while she finds the perfect spot!
Good news- we will be out of the condo by 11/15! We accepted an offer today... it's lower than my husband would have liked, but we won't be stuck here! We put it on the market the day of the wedding, and since sept 1, 3 or 4 more units have been listed.
We are going house hunting again this weekend!! I'm sad to be leaving the city after only living here for 2 months again... but having a house closer to work will be great. I will not miss the hour commute and I will not miss the noise!
WOW to both of those issues. they are both horrible. poor you, and i hope you find better neighbours SOON!
