Speaking of Halloween, I need costume ideas

We have a Halloween party at my office and last year I won 2nd place ($25 grocery store gift card) with my pirate costume. I have no idea what to be this year! I would love some suggestions or ideas, keep in mind I usually can't fit into adult sized costumes and usually have to get a kids costume. Any homemade ideas are great too, I thought of going as DH as we have football pads and a helmet hanging around the house but that seems kind of silly. I have no idea what to be!

Re: Speaking of Halloween, I need costume ideas

  • Did your sorority ever make the fall pledge class dress up as certain things for Halloween while they were pledges?  Could you go off of something like that (providing 1- you had that, 2- they were appropriate, 3- you want something "outside of the box")?

Looking back there was someone as a bubble bath, stop light, grapes, etc.

  • We are going to be Thing 1 and Thing 2.  I bought wigs from Seussland (about $12 ea) and jumpsuits on eBay.  DH is going to cut the stickers out at work to stick on the jumpsuits.

I was walking through Target last week and saw that they had red one-piece pjs by Nick & Nora.  I wish I had seen those before ordering the jumpsuits.

Yes, we did but it was to a Frat party so they were all a little too risque. I don't think my boss would want me to show up as a "dirty cop". They all had to be the same thing too.

Spcecadet- That is a super cute idea! I love Dr. Seuss.

  • I am running a Halloween 10k, and I'm dressing up as a crayon....I am dressing head to toe in pink and getting a "crayola" sign and pinning it on my shirt....I don't know if this helps at all.

  • I have to have a costume that works for our work contest and for a philanthropic sorrority I'm involved with (women ages 18 to 67 is our oldest, I think?)...

I was originally going as a Grecian goddess; think toga and gold jewelry.  Then my MIL decided she wanted to do a toga 'cause it was easy.  I've since changed my costume.

I'm now going as an Irish maiden / leprechaun of sorts?  Lots of green and four leaf clovers.

In the mean time, DH is dressing all in white and sticking a yellow felt circle to his butt.  When people ask what he is, he'll bend over and answer "Eggs Sunny Side Up!"  (To top that off -- his best friend is tall and skinny and going as Bacon.  I'll be sure and post pictures.)

  • I wore a really tacky Christmas sweater and Santa hat one year and carried around some Christmas sheet music.  I was a Christmas caroler.  Everyone loved it.

Another favorite was a bunch of grapes.  Wear a purple shirt and pin lots of purple blown up balloons to yourself.  Its fun!

I have also seen bubble gum on the bottom of your shoe.   Wear all pink and put a shoe on a hat.  You are the gum on the bottom of the shoe!

  • Those are some great ideas, thanks for your input! I'll let you know once I come up with something!
