cleaning products

Hey guys, any advise on green cleaning products? I've seen a lot on Mrs. Myers, Dr. Bronners, Seventh Generation, and Clorox Green Works. I also know people use water and vinegar. What do you recomend? For the house, I just want some soild stuff that'll take care of day-to-day grime. But also, if any of you have any suggestions, I work at a doctor's office and would like something to use there also. I'm worried about green products not being powerful enough to tackle the patient's illness germs... thanks!

Re: cleaning products

  • Mrs. Myers, Dr. Bronners, Seventh Generation and Method are all acceptable ready-made green cleaning products.

GreenWorks is not, since it's made by Clorox (not a "green" company) but at least it's a step in the right direction.

A lot of people just use white vinegar and hot water to do day-to-day cleaning. Hot water and vinegar are natural disinfectants.

I'm not sure about your office. I'd check with your local health department to make sure whatever you decide to use is acceptable with their standards. I believe that's the agency that does inspections... I could be wrong there. Check with whomever does your inspections.

  • Can't help you with the office stuff - sorry!

Btw, I hate Green Works. I wanted to switch to all 'clear & free' products not just because of their effect on the environment but I hate the smell of cleaners and detergents. I just cleaned my bathrooms with my Green Works today and choked while inhaling all those chemicals. Of course, I can't bring myself to throw the full bottle away so it'll be a while until I pick out some new cleaning products.

Vinegar is great though, and I love using baking soda for kitchen grime. I wipe down my glass-top stove and sprinkle baking soda over it, then scrub with a sponge once it's dried out. That's the only thing I've found to get the pan rings off the stove!

    Good luck!
