So the 4 year old has been hanging with a little girl at daycare. And so far, this kid seems to be bad news. The teachers there say that she gets in trouble quite a bit. And it's starting to rub off on our kid. Today? FLUCK!
Apparently, the little girl decided it would be awesome to cut her hair... and then ours decided to follow.
YES, she had a flucking MULLET. We were SO mad. She knows better, since she has heard stories of how her sister cut her hair when the kid was 2. Her mom had to go get her and take her to get it "fixed". It looks horrible. And the 7 year old told her so.
Which we think she needs to hear. It's not that she just got in trouble... she could have hurt herself and her beautiful curls? Pretty much a big old mess.
I guess it's a good thing we never scheduled those Last Look photos with the kids for next month. ARGH!!!!!!!

Re: Oh holy lord
My biggest fear as a kindergarten teacher is having to call a parent to tell them their child or another child cut their hair. So far it hasn't happened, but it's early.
It probably is good that her sister told her it looks bad, maybe knowing that will keep her from doing it again.

Oh no! She had beautiful hair before.
Dang, that sucks. I have never had a kid do that before :::knocks on wood::::
You said she was 4, where was the teacher when it happened? I have 4 yr olds, and we never leave them unsupervised with scissors, but I know kids can be so quick, too
Maybe when she realizes how awful it looks and how there is no quick fix for it, she will learn her lesson not to do it again.

Britt: I know!!!
Missy: There were 2 teachers in there with her and the rest of the small class. But it happened so fast.... one minute, it was minute. 30 seconds later and it was a done deal.
D talked to their mom. Apparently, when the 7 year old saw it, she looked like she wanted to puke! And she did tell her it looked horrible. Actually, she KEPT telling her so much, their mom had to silence her. LOL
But this is the FIRST time the older kid has acted like an older sister and flat out told the little one the truth and scolded her.
What we want her to understand is that this is not just being in trouble. She did something that hurt HER...not us, not her mom, not her sister.
There is a kid at daycare that is usually her BFF... when she saw the hair, her eyes bugged out and she almost yelled, "why did you do that??".
Thank the lord it will grow out. And in the meantime, the kid is depressed. Since everyone goes on and on about her beautiful curls, it hurts to "show the mirror" now.

I know things like that happen so fast. Yay to big sis for telling her that it was not okay what she did.
I know it is not right for the other kids to make fun of her or what not, but on the other hand, she is definitely old enough to know better and will have to deal with the consequences for her choices. And yes, thank God it will grow out. She did have such beautiful hair, I remember you wedding pics.
Yeah, the other kid is just blunt. Always has been. And she had not seen it since it happened. I think she had the same reaction that we ALL did. LOL. but she was more blunt.
Sadly, the kid is going to want pigtails soon or the x pattern. And we will have to remind her that due to her pulling a Sweeney Todd, it ain't happenin'.
Good lesson for her: Live and learn

Small miracle? She did this AFTER the wedding, not before. LOL. I have a feeling they won't be able to get her to pick UP a pair of scissors anytime soon.
Her mom called D earlier. Apparently, when they got home? The kid just sat on the couch. She knows she is in trouble... but she is SO upset with herself. I would be she's furious.

My BFF has a male cousin that has 3 kids. The youngest cuts her bangs ALL THE TIME. MANY times. They hide the scissors? She finds them. They put the scissors in a cabinet over the fridge? She manages to get them out and cut, cut, cut. THAT kid doesn't learn. LOL.
But I strongly believe this kid learned her lesson already.

Yikes! Maybe get her some cute hats to wear??
When my younger sister and I were little, she caught me trimming the ends of my hair (like, 1/8 inch) and decided she wanted to do it too. Except she cut off a huge chunk next to her face before I could stop her! She always blames me for that, but I wasn't the one dumb enough to hack off a huge piece!
Yikes! So sorry this happened!
I guess I was a bad egg...when I was little, I decided to give my best friend a haircut, and i CHOPPED off her hair! Oh, ya, and it was 2 days before she was going to be a flower girl in our neighbors wedding. We were playing beauty salon though, and she said I could! I'm stickin to that!
Finally...we are Mr. & Mrs.!!! WooHoo!!!

o nos!!
how bad is bad?
At least hair grows back... I used to cut my hair all the time =/
Make my own bangs! o so bad!!
Around the front of her head, she has less than an inch of hair. It will be a little while before a headband can help.
Her mom said that when she looked in the mirror last night, she cried. It's the very first time that you has done something that actually hurt HER. Usually, when she gets in trouble or does something wrong, she doesn't care. She beats the shiit out her OLDER sister and doesn't really care when she gets in trouble. She breaks her SISTERS toys, not her own.
I want to use it as a learning experience. I want to talk to her and tell her, this is WHY we tell you to behave and NOT do things that you KNOW you aren't supposed to do. And sometimes, you need to stop and think..should I do this? Will this get me into trouble? If the answer is yes to the last one, DON'T DO IT!
Never too young to teach a lesson about right and wrong.
