W.T.F.

So, back in Jan, the kids mom and her then boyfriend were hit from behind one day, kids were with us.

She said she had whiplash, or close, and needed to get medical help.  And so she started seeing a doctor...sort of.

The guy that hit them, HIS insurance was to pay for the visits.  So she starts going to get acupuncture and cupping 2-3 days a week.  Yes, 2-3 times a week.  And THEN added 1-2 visits at the chiropractor.  That's a LOT of visits, yes?

So, she kept going and kept going and then in Aug, found out that his insurance company is NOT wanting to pay for all of that.  They said his policy should cover 10 visits... which for most people would be about 2 months?  So she was told she must go to a arbitration meeting in September to find out if the insurance he has will cover it.

I'm sorry, but if you got hit and the drivers insurance company was going to paying, wouldn't YOU look into what all they actually cover??

And now, the hearing has been pushed back to October.

The kicker?  Even though they told her in August that they may not cover it all?  SHE IS STILL GOING TO THE DAMN DOCTORS.  I kid you not.

*facepalm*

Maybe the reason is got pushed back is because they are STILL getting claims about her?

Srsly.  She better pray that they cover more than they want to.  Can you imagine the medical bills from this?  9 months of going up to 4 days a week?

Re: W.T.F.

  • Holy. She's a piece of work.  4 times a week for 9 months?  I highly doubt any insurance would cover that let alone the other person's.  I'd say she has some huge bills headed her way.
  • Home girl better be prepared to start paying for some major bills. There's no way an insurance company is going to pay for 9 months of medical visits for someone not covered by them.

  • I know, right?  And WHY would you keep going AFTER they say they don't want to pay?

She got fired MONTHS ago and lost her own insurance.  So she has no one to pay it.

Can you imagine how much that stuff is going to total up to?  WHOA!

I have a job and can't afford to go to the doctor ONCE because of how much it is... And that's not even a specialist which I'm sure is more.
    She's got some surprises coming.

  • That is just plain dumb. As someone who has been in several accidents that weren't my fault, there are certainly limitations on how many visits they will cover. Hell, there are usually limitations for your own insurance when it comes to physical therapy and stuff. Some insurance companies won't even cover accupunture and the chiropractor.

Besides, dealing with the other persons insurance company is going to be a headache in of itself. That can be a full time job, making phone calls, talking to different adjusters/claims people...ugh.

I agree, she better be prepared to be paying off some medical bills for a long while. I think that just spells ignorance or something.

  • yikes. i couldn't imagine going to these kind of appointments and expecting soneone elses insurance to be covering it without knowing for sure what is being covered. even if she had her own insurance, they only cover so much. and the fact that shes still going after they said they wouldn't pay is scary.

what a winner. thank goodness those girls have you and your H.

  • H and I got rear-ended yesterday. My whole right side hurts, from my neck down my leg. I would love to go to my chiropractor. He does wonders. But the girl who hit us wasn't insured and I'm not going to just start going until I know exactly what the insurance/money situation is. H and I can probably afford it once a week and that's probably what we'll do. You should NEVER assume someone else is going to pay something for you and medical bills are so expensive!

**side note- I do think it's dumb that insurance companies won't pay for more/any chiropractic visits. Sometimes, the repair is slow, but I think chiropractors can really help. Especially in whiplash type injuries.

  • Every time you tell us something about this woman I want to cry.  It's like she lives in her own little world and doesn't know or care how things actually work in the real world.

I actually agree when it comes to most people.  With her?  She is a hypochondriac.  Srsly.  Her MO is to go to the ER for a flucking headache.  I kid you not.  This is why all I have heard from her for over two years is how many medical bills she has to pay off.

She took the 7 year old to the ER and it turned out to be an ear infection.  Sadly, the kids doctor was closer to home and OPEN at the time.  The ER gave her Tylenol and a Popsicle.   They never even realized it was an ear infection, which got worse from not being treated.

KK:  I know.  Believe me, I often wonder how she could have gotten to be 27.  My MIL believes that the ex stopped mentally maturing around 16.  Think about anything I have said about her.  For a 27 year old, it seems insane.  A 16 year old?  Sometimes pretty dead on.

  • All your stories of her make me really glad that I don't know her. I'm sorry you have to deal with her in your life!

Rarely do any insurance agencies cover those two specialists, even the super good expensive ones. That was just an all around dumb move.
