Clicky poll: On a typical evening...
On a typical weeknight, do you watch TV in the evenings?
[Poll]
Re: Clicky poll: On a typical evening...
I ask because I've considered dramatically cutting back our TV time (even more than we already have) because I read these articles yesterday which opened my eyes to the dangers of TV....

I don't realistically think we're going to eliminate it completely, but I do think we should be able to have 2-3 nights/week where it's not on at all.
Personally, I rarely have the TV on when I get home from work (unless I need to get in some of my DVRed stuff that Jake doesn't want to watch, like Glee). If it is on, it's generally only background noise while I'm doing something in the kitchen. It's funny--when I was a child, I remember my elementary school asking parents to participate in a week-long TV ban for the kids, and I HATED it. That was the worst week ever. But now? A week without TV sounds fabulous! ...But preferably not during college football season.
DH on the other hand would go crazy without TV, so if it isn't on by the time he gets home, it immediately gets turned on for the rest of the night. We spent 4 nights in St. Lucia, and I (hehe, oops) failed to mention to him that none of the rooms had televisions. He spent the whole time watching and rewatching the three DVDs he brought with on our laptop, and then another movie on my iPod. It drove him nuts, which was amazing because I loved not having it around.
Personally, it doesn't bother me too much if he wants to watch. I always have other things to do or books to read.

I'll admit it. I'm a total TV addict. It's on more often than it's off. I even fall asleep with the TV on. Some of it's educational...the vast majority of it is anything but.
Kind of this. I do enjoy a little time at home without it while I get the evening going (clean kitchen, deal with dog, etc.) but we watch a couple of shows every night. I have quite a few that I watch, some with H, like Glee, Grey's, L&O, 30 Rock, Community, and more. We like to discuss and have a good laugh together.
There are plenty of times when the tv is off, however. Those times, we're on the computer
We get things done, our house is relatively clean and we both work out and we have dinner together. I don't see the big deal.
H and I have been watching movies together lately but the actual shows I watch are
RHWOC-love that my fox replays all the seasons every day at 12
and the Duggar show 1x a week. Other than that I rarely watch TV. Internet time on the other hand...
