Recommend your doctor?

I am new here and I tried to search for a post like this on the Austin board, but I couldn't find one. Please correct me if I'm wrong!

I have been in the Austin area for a few years, and I have had a hard time finding an Ob-Gyn that I like. We are thinking of trying to start to conceive in a year or so, so I'd like to find someone now who will be a good OB for me. I prefer a female, and I would also prefer south Austin, but Central Austin would be okay too. Do any of you love your ob-gyns? I have had some health issues in the past that have made me absolutely hate getting these exams (though I know no one likes them!) so I am looking for someone who is nice, patient, and not gruff. Thank you so much!

Re: Recommend your doctor?

  • Mine is central (38th st) - but i've been with her for about 6-7 yrs and she's been great. . . Dr. Jane Braunstein.  http://www.obgyngroupofaustin.com/doctors/Braunstein.php .

The only downside is that its in the building next to the hospital, and requires you to pay for parking (prob $5 each time if you park in the hospital garage).  I forget about that sometimes when I go.

  • I LOVE mine. Seriously he save my baby's life during delivery so I will forever love him lol. It is Gynics Associates downtown and I go to Dr. Kuhlmann but everyone in the practice is great.

I also go to this practice and would highly recommend any of the doctors in it. I see Dr. Reue who is male, but Dr. Kish delivered my daughter and she is excellent.

  • I see Kimberly Carter.  I like her.

I think she's a great doctor and super informative and does a quick quick quick job on the pap which is always appreciated.

She's not a super lovey-dovey doctor, but most days I appreciate that.  She's central, and I would certainly recommend her.

Again, great doctor and has been fantastic for my personal needs - just don't expect to want to hug her. :)

  • Thank you for your advice, everyone! I have read good reviews of Kimberly Carter and actually called last year trying to get an appointment, but I was told she wasn't accepting new patients. Maybe I'll try again. And that ob-gyn practice with all of the doctors does look very nice too. I just have to see who takes my insurance. Thanks again!
  • I see Dr. Reue and really like him although all of my visits thus far have been annual GYN appts.

Lot of ladies on here recommend Dr. Tara Cherry (S. Austin) and Dr. Hooey (sp?)....Dr. Belt is also in that practice and is very nice.
