Recs needed: low-cost venues for anniversary party
I'd like to throw a 30th anniversary party for my in-laws next February and am starting to look into potential venues. Are there any recommendations for low-cost locations that accommodate up to 50 people? Twin Cities/Northern suburbs works best.
I'm mainly thinking a banquet facility that allows you to bring your own food/alcohol (not sure if that exists), but am open to other budget-friendly suggestions. Hoping to keep the whole thing around $500 if possible. Thanks!
Re: Recs needed: low-cost venues for anniversary party
You want a place to bring your own food/drink for 500$ for the food and drink too?? or you want a place for $500??
I just want to Clarify...
I know St. Patricks Church- Inver Grove Heights allows their banquet facility to bring your own food/drinks- not sure on cost.
You are looking at Feb... Look into Clearly Lake Park in Prior Lake- they have an indoor- heated with a LARGE fireplace room- bring all your own.. i would relaly research how warm and indoor it is, but we had a 50th anniversary there- for VERY cheap!
Hmmm ... a banquet facility where the rental fee + food/beverages would cost $500 or less is a tall order.
Are you willing to have it on a week night? That would help keep the costs down. Many banquet facilities would charge $500 just for the facility rental on a weekend.
Check local community centers, nature centers, etc. Many of them offer room rentals, but the ones in my area would still cost more than $500 on a weekend.
What about a party room at a restaurant? Obviously, you wouldn't be able to bring in your own food, though. If you can't afford to buy dinner for everyone, maybe it would work to pay for appetizers & non-alcoholic drinks with a cash bar?
Would you consider a church as mentioned by PP? That might be the cheapest option. Plus, if you're bringing your own food, it's nice to have access to a kitchen, which a church would provide.
Did you want a sit-down dinner? If you would be willing to do a more casual food arrangement like just dessert or appetizers, perhaps someone could host at their home if it's for 50 people? If it's an "open house" type even where people are coming & going, you wouldn't necessarily have 50 people there all at one time. We had a drinks & dessert holiday party at our house last winter and we had about 45 people there. If someone has a large house, it's doable.
Does anyone in the family live at a condo/apartment that has a party room available? When we lived in our condo, we hosted several parties at our condo party room. There was no rental fee and no restrictions on bringing your own food/drinks. Condo residents were always hosting showers, birthday parties, retirement parties, anniversaries, etc. ... it seemed like there was a party of some sort almost every weekend!

we did our engagement party at the local upstairs in the Choir space. i believe we had a $500 f/b minimum but that worked great for us. we just had folks by their own drinks and we covered all the food, soda and water.

My friend just had her day-after wedding party for about 60 family and friends at the Loring Park Community Arts Center. Not sure how much it costs to rent but I don't think it was too costly. There is access to a kitchen so you could bring your own food. Food was catered by Brasa at the event I went to on Sunday.

We got married at Loring Park, and it was $150 an hour to rent back in 2007-2008. I think it's gone up since then.
Have you looked at any Legions/VFW locations? Or a Masonic Lodge? If you have family that are members, sometimes you can get a lower price.
