WWYD

Right before I found out I was expecting, I started applying for new jobs. I'm getting some calls back for interviews and I'm not sure how to respond. Between issues with insurance and FMLA I've pretty much decided it would be smart to stay where I am.

So how do I politely decline?

Re: WWYD

  • Just tell them you're no longer looking.
  • Do you think you would still want to switch jobs after the baby is born?  I'm not sure how I would handle this, sorry.
  • That's the problem. I will probably continue looking after the baby is born. I think I will just thank them for their interest and let them know that I am putting my job search on hold for the time being.

    Thanks!

  • I had this same thing happen to a good friend of mine.  She decided to be honest with the HR person and say that she was really interested in the position and company but since she found she was newly pregnant she felt it wasn't fair to start off like that.  It'll leave the door open so when you're ready to look again in a few months you can email that contact and tell them you're interested.
