Cupcakes

Does anyone know of a good cupcake shop?  I'm looking for fancy cupcakes something over the top and super yummy.  I saw the bakery post below put they mostly seem to specialize in cakes.

Re: Cupcakes

  • DH told me about one in the Colerain area but I don't remember the name.  I'll ask him about it when he gets home.
  • I didn't see the recommendation below so I'm sorry if this is a duplicate but I know of 2 places. Everyone has her own opinion but I enjoyed the cupcakes from both locations (all kinds of flavors).  I'm not sure the part of town you're in but here you go:

Sugarplums Cupcakery in Milford. I've tried almost all of their cupcakes. Good stuff.  They're opening a location in Mason in November.

Manna in Lebanon. Their storefront opens any day. I tried their wares at the Applefest last weekend. Yum.

  • I loveee the ones from Sugar Cupcakery which is in Milford. They were on the Cupcake Wars show on TLC.

  • Three Tiers in Bellevue does cupcakes! They have a bunch of new fall flavors too. Yum. :)
  • Sugar in Milford is ok, but I feel like their cupcakes are kind of dry. I've had them a few times now and always feel the same way.

  • My fave cupcakes are from A Spoon Fulla Sugar (you can ask for any flavor combo- cake/filling/frosting) on Montgomery, Frieda's in Madeira on Miami (they almost always have a selection ready to buy, but call ahead to get them custom made), and Abby Girl Sweets Cupcakery downtown in the Hilton (the Double Trouble is awesome).
  • My mom went to the one on Colerain and said they just tasted like boxed cake mix-nothing special.  Maribelle does cupcakes now-they're ok.  Maybe try Bonbonerie or Take the Cake.

Ditto this.  We have also tried Abby girl downtown- inside the HIlton and they were dry/old as well.  I LOVE Georgetown cupcake in DC (I know this doesnt help you)  They bake constantly, and theirs are amazing!  I dont know if there are any places around her that bake during the day/as needed- but I think thats what I prefer, and keep comparing every other cupcake shop to.
